Originally the idea for the primary location was Oslo, Norway, but eventually it was found out that Finland had more suitable pro boxing scene and as the director Kyzza Terrazas was inspired by films by Aki Kaurismäki, thus eventually Finland was chosen and the most of the story takes place in Turku, Finland.
