The first draft of Ava was written by Dan Gregory and Jenna Kildosher in the fall of 2015 and was set to film in the summer of 2017. Last minute, it underwent a change in the creative direction and filming was postponed. The script was revised in 2019 only to be shelved again. Finally in 2024, the film is being made. The release is anticipated for exactly 10 years after the first draft was written.
