Following strong critical reception for the first series, Lennie James confirmed that a second has since been commissioned.
In an interview with the Radio Times published on Monday, 12th April 2021 the writer and star of the series, Lennie James, revealed that he is currently working on scripting a third series of the drama, that Sky Television have not yet commissioned a third series and that if they do commission series three it will be the final series. James also announced that due to his commitments to Fear the Walking Dead and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic the earliest release date for a possible third series would be late 2022.
The series was green-lit in January 2017, under the original working title of Gone.
Save Me was first broadcast on Sky Atlantic on 28 February 2018, with all six episodes being released via Sky Box Sets and Now TV on the same day.
