Bat Hen Sabag is ready, willing and able to defy expectations with her new eight-episode Israeli horror comedy series Soul Sucker, which she created, wrote and stars in. The show is also a detective mystery and family drama and was inspired, in Sabag’s words, by her “very crazy” family.
Sabag, who was behind the award-winning Israeli series Dumb (remade in Germany as Rampensau), worked on the show with co-creator and director Daphna Levin (In Treatment), who co-created, directed and executive produced Euphoria. Prominent Israeli genre filmmaker Aharon Keshales served as script editor.
Dori Media Group, the company behind the likes of Dumb, Losing Alice, Lalola, Rebelde, and The New Black that is led by president and CEO Nadav Palti, hosted a premiere screening of Soul Sucker, set to launch on cable outlet Hot in Israel later this year, at Mip London on Tuesday.

Blumhouse and Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell's Wolf Man is set to hit theaters later this month, and tickets for the horror reboot are now officially on sale.
To accompany the announcement, we have some new posters, a TV spot and featurette giving us our best look yet at the other werewolf that Christopher Abbott's Blake will change into.
The new spot includes a (very) quick glimpse of the beast, but the featurette spotlights the full creature design via some concept maquettes. The video also features Whannell and the cast discussing this latest take on the classic Universal Monster.
It's entirely possible that what we've seen of the Wolf Man so far will not be the final form, as Blake could transform into a more lupine-looking creature towards the end of the movie.
See it. Fear it. Step into Leigh Whannell’s vision of #WolfManMovie. Only in theaters January 17. https://t.

Released in 1994, the film was a smashing hit, introducing the world to Carrey’s unique brand of lunacy and cementing his place as a comedy king. Jim Carrey's most iconic roles get reimagined as cartoon characters, including Dr. Robotnik. The comedic actor, celebrated for his high-energy slapstick performances, achieved stardom with a series of blockbuster hits during the 1990s, including Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. Since the 2010s, Carrey has starred in fewer films, though one of his recent highlights has been Dr. Robotnik, a role he recently reprised for Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Now, some new fan art shared by richietoons on Instagram reimagines Jim Carrey's most iconic roles, including Dr. Robotnik, as cartoon characters. The art, captioned "Jim Carrtoons", also includes Ace Ventura, The Mask, the Grinch, and Lloyd Christmas from Dumb and Dumber. Check out the fan art below:

Somebody stop him! Jim Carrey has been almost exclusively tied up in the franchise world, playing the cartoonish villain Dr. Robotnik in the Sonic the Hedgehog movies. But he has rarely brought his more iconic characters into the 21st century, only reprising Lloyd Christmas for Dumb and Dumber To. But he’s not entirely against it, saying he would don The Mask one more time under the right circumstances.
While Jim Carrey has previously said he has zero interest in reprising any of his most famous characters – giving the reason that it feels more like an imitation than anything – he seems to be backtracking on that now. In addition to saying he could see himself return as The Grinch provided motion capture is used, Jim Carrey said Stanley Ipkiss from The Mask could be on the table as well.

In an unexpected twist, Jim Carrey has revealed that he would reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik in the third edition of the Sonic the Hedgehog film series. This announcement comes after Carrey announced his retirement from acting, citing a combination of comedy and financial realism.
The 62-year-old actor, known for roles in classics such as The Mask and Dumb and Dumber, spoke about the film during its London premiere. “I bought a lot of stuff, and I need the money, frankly,” Carrey told the Associated Press. His reply mixed his trademark self-deprecating humor with an open acknowledgment of his financial circumstances.
Carrey’s return comes after he declared his retirement in 2022, expressing pleasure with his life outside of Hollywood. He stated, “I genuinely enjoy my calm existence and feel like I have plenty. I have done enough. “I am enough.”

Did Jim Carrey earn handsomely by making a bold move? (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Known for hilarious hits like Dumb and Dumber and deeply nuanced roles in movies like The Truman Show, Jim Carrey proved time and again that he could bring any character to life. But there was a twist in his career where a bold, unconventional deal turned into a jackpot.
After a couple of setbacks, including Fun with Dick and Jane, Carrey found himself doubting his choices and career direction. Instead of sinking into self-pity, he took a gamble on Yes Man. But here’s the kicker—Carrey didn’t take a paycheck upfront. Instead, he made an audacious move by negotiating a deal to get 36.2% of the profits. Yeah, you heard that right. There is no upfront cash, just a percentage of whatever Yes Man would make.
Most actors would’ve laughed at this deal for being too risky,...

Jim Carrey is one of the biggest and most beloved actors of his generation, and back in the 1990s, he had an impressive streak of back-to-back hits that's even better three decades later. Jim Carrey is best known for his style of comedy, which he has used to bring to life some of the most memorable characters in pop culture, such as The Riddler, but he has also shown his range in drama movies, such as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Carrey’s acting career began in 1983 with a direct-to-video comedy, but he rose to fame in the 1990s.
The 1990s was a very busy decade for Carrey, starring mostly in comedies but also in a superhero movie (Batman Forever) and the psychological comedy-drama The Truman Show, which earned him the praise of critics. In recent years, Carrey has become part of the world of Sonic the Hedgehog thanks to the characters of Dr.

The Farrelly Brothers are known for making iconic comedies like Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin and There’s Something About Mary — as well as less-than-iconic comedies like Hall Pass and the remake of The Heartbreak Kid that somehow missed the entire point of the original. After working on separate projects for the past decade (including one of the worst Oscar Best Picture winners of all time), the Farrelly Brothers are back together. Sort of.
The new comedy Dear Santa was directed by Bobby Farrelly, from a script co-written by Peter Farrelly. It stars Jack Black as the literal Devil, who is accidentally conjured by a small child after they write a letter to “Satan” instead of “Santa.”
Is it any good? Well, the fact that it dropped on Paramount+ on a Monday doesn’t exactly seem like a great sign.
But could Dear Santa possibly be worse than the Farrelly Brothers’ previous collaboration with Jack Black?...

Twenty years after the release of Dumb and Dumber, the Farrelly brothers reunited with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels for Dumb and Dumber To. Although the sequel received negative reviews, it did gross $169.8 million. It’s now the 30th anniversary of Dumb and Dumber, and the Farrelly brothers told Variety that they’re down to do another sequel if they can get the gang back together.
“I still take notes whenever I hear something that I think would be a good ‘Dumb and Dumber’ joke,” Peter said. “I keep a list because I could easily see us doing another ‘Dumb and Dumber’ someday.”
Bobby added, “We did it on the 20th anniversary, and right now we’re at the 30th anniversary. So in 10 years… Those guys are so much fun to work with. If we’re all still kicking around, I’d love to do that.” In a post-credit scene,...

Last week, I was lamenting about the state of Christmas movies after watching The Merry Gentlemen, and between then and now, 10 more Xmas-themed films have been released across various streaming platforms, and all of them have been pretty bad. One of them was inspired by the real-life romantic relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, so you can guess what we are dealing with. And the most surprising and dreadful thing is that we are still in the month of November. We haven’t even hit December. It’s still hot outside. Hence, I am not shivering because of the temperature; it’s the fear that holiday season-centric films are going to get much worse than they are right now that’s making me quiver in my boots. That’s why, despite being an atheist, I started praying to the movie gods to give me a glimmer of hope by...

Ian Niles returns with Con Job, a darkly comedic sequel to his debut, Lie Hard. This time, Niles takes on the triple threat role of writer, director, and lead actor as he delivers a chaotic yet mildly-entertaining romp.
The story follows Chris (Niles), a self-absorbed schemer, and his dimwitted best friend, Angus (Menuhin Hart). Their plan to con Chris’s estranged brother, Tim (Dean Edwards), takes a wild and and surreal turn when a dead body, a bumbling petty criminal, and a well-meaning neighbour complicate matters.
Niles’ direction is a masterclass in physical comedy and slapstick humour, reminiscent of his previous work. The chemistry between Niles and Hart is undeniable, their dynamic is often reminiscent of classic buddy comedies like Dumb and Dumber.
Elsewhere, the supporting cast, which includes Aaron Berg as a manic notary and Julia Claire Schweitzer as a scheming food delivery driver, delivers memorable performances that elevate the film’s comedic moments.

After defying all odds and remarks, Donald Trump won the 2024 US presidential elections and is all set to take over the official duties earlier next year. However, in the midst of this several celebrities have not shied away to express their not-so-subtle comments about the president-elect. While Robert De Niro’s rant against him was legendary, actor Jim Carrey was also not far behind with his unique form of artwork.

Paramount has released the first trailer and poster for Dear Santa, which is a live-action adaptation of popular 2017 animated short Dear Satan. The movie marks the return of the directing/producing team of Bobby and Peter Farrelly, and stars Jack Black in the lead role.
Black, who worked with the brothers on Shallow Hal, plays the Devil, alongside a supporting cast consisting of Robert Timothy Smith, Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, Pj Byrne, Jaden Carson Baker, Kai Cech and Austin Post, aka Post Malone.

The best Dumb and Dumber quotes still have fans laughing 30 years after it was first released. When Dumb and Dumber hit the big screen, it changed the comedy world with a silly story of misadventures and a strangely endearing friendship. Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) embarked on a quest with his best friend Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) in search of true love. Audiences loved director Peter Farrelly's celebration of two guys lacking in brain matter while embracing the spirit of adventure. It also gave rise to some timeless Dumb and Dumber quotes that inspired so many memes.
The movie saw Jim Carrey at the height of his popularity in the 1990s and added in a normally straight-man actor in Jeff Daniels to ham it up throughout the running time. While Dumb and Dumber had a prequel and a sequel, neither came close to the brilliance of the original, which launched...

Our first look at what was assumed to be the titular monster via an actor in a costume at Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights was met with a lot of backlash, but the first teaser did suggest that this will be the creature responsible for the initial attack, leaving Christopher Abbott's Blake to change into a different beast altogether.
This new look confirms that the movie will indeed feature another werewolf, and we catch a brief glimpse of the lycanthrope right at the end. From what we can make out, this creature design is... quite similar to the guy in the suit!

Director Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man) returns to the world of the Universal Monsters with next year’s Wolf Man, and the official MPA rating has arrived this week.
Wolf Man is rated “R” for “Bloody violent content, grisly images and some language.”
Whannell recently promised that his Wolf Man is a straight up horror movie. He also teased that the new movie aims to bring something fresh to the werewolf sub-genre.
From Universal and Blumhouse, Wolf Man howls into theaters on January 17, 2025.
Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.
Golden Globe nominee Christopher Abbott stars as Blake, a San Francisco husband and father, who inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father vanishes and is presumed dead. With his marriage to his high-powered wife, Charlotte, fraying, Blake persuades Charlotte to take a break from the...

When it comes to being an open book and sharing the most uncomfortable of personal details, you’d no doubt find an ally in Jada Pinkett Smith – the host of the successful podcast series ‘Red Table Talk.’ So it’s no surprise that she’s supportive of her son opening up about his greatest demons.
Jaden Smith Says “I Made This Project Because I’m Sad” About Upcoming Album
Jaden Smith is back with his first album in years, ‘EP 2024: A Case Study of the Long Term Effects of Young Love’ – out Oct. 18, and it’s his most personal record yet.
Last week, Jaden received support from his mother when she shared the music video for his new song D.U.M.B with her fans.
A day later, Jaden took to social media to explain the meaning and the message behind the song and its accompanying visuals. In the post, he didn’t sugarcoat his emotions,...

Amazon MGM packs its bags for Sporkinfeesten, a family vacation comedy with Bobby Farrelly directing
Say it with me: Sporkinfeesten. Have you got that? No? Don’t worry; eventually, it’ll roll right off your tongue. Bobby Farrelly, co-director of Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, There’s Something About Mary, and the director of 2023’s feelgood sports comedy Champions, is packing his bags for Sporkinfeesten, a family vacation comedy at Amazon MGM. Sporkinfeesten, based on a spec script by Aaron and Will Eisenberg, is based on a true story about “finding your roots.”
Plot details remain a mystery, but it’s Farrelly’s next project after wrapping production on Dear Santa, starring Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howrey, and Post Malone about a young boy who, in writing his yearly note to Santa, mixes up the letters and it to Stan instead.

Sabrina Carpenter has responded to the lip-syncing accusations made about her. After just beginning her tour, some people believe she is not singing live.
Sabrina Carpenter’s Fans Have “Taste”
Sabrina Carpenter is a pop star who has recently finally been noticed and appreciated for her talent. She began her entertainment career young as an actor. However, her big break came when she got the role of Maya Hart on Girl Meets World, the spin-off to Boy Meets World.
This Disney Channel job helped her draw up some attention which made things a little easier when she began releasing music. Early fans most recall and love one of her earlier songs, “Can’t Blame A Girl For Trying.” Fans still try to get her to sing it to this day which she politely rejects as she has moved on from that stage of life.

Evan Almighty, Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, and Son of the Mask are all considered to rank among the worst comedy movies of all time, and they share one glaring similarity. However, on the surface, the movies seem quite different despite all coming out in the 2000s. For instance, Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd stars Derek Richardson and Eric Christian Olsen as two young men with perilously low IQs who become involved in a corrupt principal's scheme when they transfer from homeschooling to a public high school in the 1980s.
The absurd but more realistic premise of When Harry Met Lloyd feels very different from the other two titles, which both feature supernatural premises. Evan Almighty follows the biblically-themed story of a modern-day man being forced to re-enact the story of Noah's Ark while the latter follows a family that is thrown into chaos when...

It's often been said that Hollywood loves a sequel, but there are some upcoming comedy seques that nobody could have anticipated. Classic comedies from 20, 30, or even 40 years ago are suddenly being given sequels. This isn't exactly uncharted territory, since franchises like Ghostbusters, Beverly Hills Cop and Bill & Ted have all been resurrected in recent years, but there are some upcoming sequels even stranger than these.
Comedy sequels are notoriously difficult, since so many comedies rely on a solid premise. Once that premise is used up, it isn't easy to construct a movie that brings the best out of the same characters. This can be especially difficult if there is a big gap between sequels, since tastes could change. Movies like Zoolander 2 and Dumb and Dumber To show how much can go wrong with a comedy sequel, but this hasn't prevented studios from bringing some old ideas back to life.

Even though Mark Duplass is up for an Emmy on Sunday for his work as Chip on “The Morning Show,” he admits he’s not preparing an acceptance speech ahead of the big night.
“But I do have a tuxedo,” he told me Friday night at the Television Academy’s Performer Nominee Celebration at the Wallis in Beverly Hills. “I’m excited about my tuxedo.”
Then he cracked, “Have you see ‘Dumb and Dumber?’”
Duplass, who has never been shy about talking about his mental health issues, also revealed his Emmy morning plans to alleviate potential social anxiety he may experience at the awards show.
“I’ll go to the gym and work out and try and get my social anxiety jitters out,” he said. “I’m an elliptical guy. I used to be a runner, but I’m 47 now. Nothing can give you that runners high, but I want to keep my knees.

Jim Carrey is one of the biggest working movie stars with decades of celebrated and successful projects, and he has the large net worth to go along with that career. Getting his start in the early 1980s with some small TV and movie roles, Jim Carrey really came to wider attention with In Living Color. From there, Carrey went on to become one of the most successful comedy movie stars of the 1990s with incredible performances in Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, and much more. In the 2000s, Carrey entered a more dramatic portion of his career.
These new Jim Carrey movies saw the actor exploring darker and more psychological aspects of the world. It was an exploration that spilled over into his real life, as seen in the documentary Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond. His life was also rocked by the passing of his girlfriend, Cathriona White, who...

R-rated comedies push boundaries with raunchy humor & compelling narratives that stand the test of time. Iconic directors like Mel Brooks & Judd Apatow revolutionized the genre with their unique humor. Movies like American Pie, There's Something About Mary, & Superbad are among the best R-rated comedies ever made.
With the freedom to depict sex and violence and little restriction on using vulgar language, R-rated comedies push the boundaries of audience expectations to produce some of the funniest movies ever made. While this often leads to crude and vulgar humor, thats not to say that all R-rated comedies were shocking for the sake of it, and plenty were also categorized by sincerity and vulnerability as they told compelling narratives that have stood the test of time. From satirical classics of decades past to recent laugh-out-loud misadventures, R-rated comedies have left their mark on the cinematic landscape.

However, it wasn’t always smooth sailing for Jim Carrey. A stunt that went horribly wrong on the sets of his 1999 film Man on the Moon, put Jim Carrey on the red list for insurance companies. As always, there are two sides to this story.

No one would accuse Hollywood of being rife with level-headed, even-tempered, morally upstanding types. As a result, it’s a rare film set that’s above a little sabotage. These are mostly sad BoJack Horseman-y outmaneuverings, but occasionally, they’re just hilarious.

In the early ‘90s, Jeff Daniels was known exclusively as a dramatic actor, so when Jim Carrey and the Farrelly Brothers declared him their choice to play Dumb to Carrey’s Dumber, the studio freaked. They decided to offer him the insultingly low salary of $50,000 — in comparison, Carrey got $7 million — sure that he would turn it down. When he didn’t, they spent the first week filming only his scenes without Carrey, expecting to have to replace him. Of course, they didn’t have to, because Daniels somehow didn’t let all that...

The Torrance family being the only guests at the Overlook mirrored Stephen King's own experience at the Stanley Hotel. The Overlook Hotel and the Stanley Hotel both have haunted histories, inspiring King's iconic horror story. Jack Torrance's solitary drink at the bar, like King's, serves as a self-insert moment in the story of The Shining.

Animated TV shows based on popular 1990s films aimed to expand franchises & appeal to younger audiences. Success of films like Ace Ventura, The Mask, and Beetlejuice led to the creation of their animated series. Some 1990s animated series like Back to the Future, Jumanji, and Godzilla adapted source material for kids.
The 1990s saw a huge spike in the popularity of animated TV shows, especially those aimed at kids, so naturally, many of the more popular films at the time got in on the animated action. Animation is an incredible and time-consuming art form. Prior to 1995 and the release of the feature length movie, Toy Story, most animated shows were hand drawn. The 1990s saw the ability to use CGI in making animated content rapidly improve, but this was still largely an era of hand-drawn animation for most TV shows.

George Miller’s Mad Max franchise is one of the most revered action franchises of all time. After it spun out the Tom Hardy-starrer Oscar-winning Mad Max: Fury Road, all we got is a prequel about the character Furiosa. Starring Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy, two immensely popular actors, the movie made its debut with rave reviews but has been struggling at the box office.
A still from Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga | Warner Brothers
While even fans described the film as incredible to watch, the movie failing to live up to its expectations at the box office can be attributed to one Star Wars movie. Solo: A Star Wars Story was a bomb at the box office despite being based on one of the best fictional characters of all time. And while the two franchises share little similarity, the fate of Solo seems to predict that Furiosa was deemed to fail.

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels starred in the hit 1994 comedy film Dumb and Dumber. The main point of interest in the film was the pairing of a rising comic talent like Carrey and a serious character actor like Daniels. Carrey had already proven his mettle in comedy with back-to-back comedy hits Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and The Mask earlier in the same year.

Put Ilana Glazer in a comedy set in New York City and we’ll be sat, no questions asked. For “Babes,” Glazer teamed up to co-write, produce, and star in Pamela Adlon‘s feature directorial debut, a laugh-out-loud coming-of-age buddy comedy following life-long best friends (Glazer and Michelle Buteau) as they navigate different phases of adulthood through the lens of pregnancy. IndieWire caught up with the team and stars behind the film at its New York City premiere on Tuesday, May 14.

Mother of the Bride unwittingly tells you everything you need to know about it right at the opening logos: the expected Netflix logo and one for the Motion Picture Corporation of America, a company I’ve never heard of that apparently specializes in low-budget comedies, such as Dumb and Dumber, the A Christmas Prince and The Princess Switch franchises, and Irish Wish earlier this year.
Even without knowing their filmography, I would still say this logo tells you everything about the film before it starts because “Motion Picture Corporation of America” sounds like the most generic name for a movie studio ever and Mother of the Bride is unfortunately about as generic a romantic comedy as you can get, aside from a handful of key details that honestly make it worse.

Steve Albini, a singer and guitarist best known for producing some of the most groundbreaking and influential albums of the alt-rock genre, died of a heart attack at his Chicago recording studio Electrical Audio. He was 61.
Albini’s death and cause of death was confirmed by Taylor Hales of Electrical Audio.
Born July 22, 1962, in Pasadena, Albini moved to the Chicago area after high school to study journalism at Northwestern University. While there, he began writing for local punk rock ‘zines and beginning to record and engineer albums for local bands.
Stubbornly opposed to the larger music industry and its exploitation of artists, Albini formed the Chicago-based band Big Black in 1981, recording the first of several albums, an EP for the Chicago label Ruthless Records, a label he co-managed. That band last until 1987.
From 1987 to 1988, Albini sang and played guitar for Rapeman, named after a Japanese comic book. The short-lived band broke up after one album,...
