Stay Awake (2018)

Trivia

Stay Awake

Edit
Writer and director originally wrote four different screen plays, then while looking at them, decided to take all the best parts and combine into one story.
Originally meant to be shot on film, budget fall out forced the Director to shoot digitally. Technical issues with the equipment also caused a great deal of headache in post production as well as during the shoot. Director swore the next few projects will be all on film, which so far he has. He wrapped on "The Creeper", and completed first draft for "House", and an Untitled feature project.
Principle photography took place over a five day period, second unit footage was pieced together over the following five months. This was the first time the Director has done this, mostly because he wanted to do something off the wall and different. The longer he took the more ideas came into his head as how to shape the film. The scene with J.C. (Aka Jesus) wasn't even in the script. It was originally a montage of blood, guts, and demonic faces. Being that all horror films do this, he decided months after shooting completed, to rig up a crucifixion scene in effort to demonstrate that the main character had someone looking after him as well. The project started as one story when it was written, then became something wild and different when editing was complete.
Director trade mark- Strong and intense sound track, and due to his interest in space and astronomy he had the scene with a annular eclipse. The idea came from the explanation of why the skies went dark when Jesus died. However they just got done celebrating "Pass Over" (Last supper) which means that the moon was in the wrong position for this to happen. However the director felt it was just too cool not to do. He also went with the Jehovah's witness version crucifixion. Cause "crux" only means "stake" , and the director researches a lot into the material to dig up something new and interesting. He also considered using the name "Yeshua" just to see if any Christians knew who it was.
