Not a huge fan of Roisin as a rule, sometimes find her comedy a little too "wacky" and avoided this in case she played her character from Man Down again.
However, this was a pleasant surprise. Had a rainy day and watched the entire first series in one sitting.
The writing is good, the themes are amusing, and you care about the characters. Some good plot devices using life coach and driving lessons to move the story forwards.
The jokes may be a touch crude for some, but I felt they were the right side of tasteful and was nice to see a character grow but not change entirely.
Fantastic acting from all supporting cast and great to see Pauline McLynn shine again.
An easy watch with some laugh out loud moments.

Stumbled upon this show on ABC2 here in Australia. We both laughed out loud....unusual for us. Now we wouldn't miss it!
Just awesome, fresh, natural, clever! And is it just me or does the lead go from repulsive to quirky and cute by the end of season 1?? Probably just me :)

I haven't laughed this much in sometime, well written and great characters.
There should be more comedy like this, since the departure of many great shows like Gavin & Stacey, Ab Fab, The Inbetweeners, Gimme Gimme Gimme etc, good comedy has been lacking.
Binge watched the first series I stumbled upon in Stan........bring on season 2!

The star reminds me of a mix of a young Lynn Redgrave with Amy Schumer. Like Schumer, she created and wrote the show.
Her character, with all it's foibles is entertaining and somewhat relate able.
The acting is quite good.

Wasn't expecting much but was so surprised at the characters, the story and the humour. Binged both series in 2 days, completely obsessed with Marcella and Jon, don't understand why this isn't getting more love! Please watch it x
Loved every minute of this touching comedy. Poignant moments that make you think amidst laugh out loud humour. Totally bingeable. Bring it back for more please because I could watch this all day.

This show is the first show I have watched in a while that is genuinely hilarious and relatable.
I'm normally irritated by Roisin (except for Taskmaster, where she was funny), and in all honesty I stumbled into Gameface with very low expectations.
It was enjoyable to be be wrong about something, and I need to stop being such a comedy snob, it's not cool or funny.
Watch this, it's not sh**t.

Without a doubt the funniest sitcom of the last 10years. Laugh out loud funny, exposed human flaws and tender moments. It sits with the catastrophe's and fleabags for real content, soul and depth. The awkward moments, the hangovers and the varied characters. It's just magic. This set a high bar that will be hard matched (most people I know have watched both seasons a few times- you get more every time)
More of this PLEASE

Wasn't expecting much. But the show is really funny and not just here and there. Every relished makes me laugh
This show gives us such a good shot of laughter (Australia) The wit is very quick and realistic to situations that happen in life. I praise the writers. Roisin has such a way of expressing herself as an actress. She is excellent in this rolel. We need more laughs in this world now and this show is the best.
I particularly loved series 2 " the horse scene" won't say anymore cause it will spoil it. Keep this show going please.

I first saw Roisin Conaty as the hilarious Jo in Man Down with Greg Davies and I knew I needed more of her. In Gameface she plays Marcella, a struggling actress who lives with her two besties and she's just broken up with her boyfriend of twelve years. It's only two seasons and I would've liked to see more of it. The supporting characters were top notch as well especially Marcella's parents and Jon, her driving instructor.
I really enjoyed watching it, she's a great actress and it was really funny. I'm sad to see this show was cancelled. It was very entertaining. Binged both series in 2 days. Very good for the dark winter days.

I started watching this series and fell in love with it! I love the main character and all the quirky situation she gets into. I'm also a big fan of British comedy. I believe I only got through a few episodes, and stopped watching it for some reason. Now I'm trying to find where I can stream it in the US. I'm only seeing that it's available in the UK. I barely got through the first season, and now I think it's on the third season. Hulu used to have this on their streaming services but for some reason they took it off. Please bring it back! How are people in the US watching this show? I'm having a hard time finding somewhere to continue my binge.
Just like another reviewer said, this is a predictable and basic show, and is just background TV.
I was walking into this hoping/expecting something like Fleabag, was disappointed by how unfunny this show was while it's listed on IMDB as a Comedy. The jokes/humor in this show is unoriginal, the story is predictable, the rating for this show is overinflated, doesn't deserve higher than 5 out of 10. If you still don't believe the mediocrity of this show, give it a shot, but take this advice, watch this show while doing something else, because this is basic background TV.

Its been a while since i watched a comedy that actually had me laughing, gameface does this with ease. Its a light hearted, easy to watch comedy with some romantic drama.

Marcella is aspiring to be an actress, busy learning to drive, and trying to navigate her complex love life, everyone around her just seems to make her life more complicated.
It's a great series, I binge watched all episodes in one day, so many laughs, so many great characters, I loved her parents in particular, her dad was hilarious.
Roisin Conaty is a massively talented lady, she's funny, she's smart, she can act, and boy can she write. In this show she makes us laugh, cringe, and she manages to move us and make us smile.
It's sad that we only got two series, there was definitely more to come, and who knows maybe one day we'll learn what happened to Marcella.
Roisin Conaty, you are brilliant!!
Deserved a longer run 9/10.

I've just finished watching this from the pilot through to the end of series 2, for a second time. I watched it originally when it first came out and was looking for some light relief recently and remembered Gameface.
I love it so much. So many laugh out loud moments and times where you find yourself giggling along.
It's relatable, heart warming, and most of all hilarious.
I am torn between wanting a 3rd series because it's so good, and I want so much to see what happens next for Marcella, and feeling like adding another series could risk spoiling it. And it's pretty perfect as it is.
I love Roisin's performance, I feel like I know Marcella so well. Damien Molony is perfect as Jon, but every character is so well cast. Even Orlando is the complete professional.

Truly great comedy is a natural combination of brilliant writing and great acting. I've read scripts of Fleabag and Alan Partridge etc and, on paper, you can't imagine some things being funny - but they are when delivered by the right actor, in the right way. You couldn't imagine anyone else other than Phoebe Waller-Bridge playing Fleabag. Here, you couldn't imagine anyone other than Roisin Conaty playing Marcella. The situations are synonymous with her and, although she gets herself into them, it feels natural. Like, of course that would happen to Marcella! It's erratically and brilliantly believable. Marcella manages to feel at once like the orchestrator of her mishaps but also an unwitting and unlucky bystander in her life. Things happen to her - but is the chaos Marcella-Made or is she just a magnet for this stuff? I could watch Rosin Conaty act all day because you don't actually see her acting! She makes totally off-the-wall situations look natural and inevitable and it's because you believe the character, it's as if you're a bystander in somebody's incredibly funny life. Like Miranda, Marcella is a larger than life, totally lovable character. I can't comprehend why C4 wouldn't bring this back for a third series (or more). I just didn't feel like I was done with Marcella after just two series. There's so much more to explore with a character like that. The scope is huge and I really do hope they revisit it at some point in the future.
