Melting Pot (2017)

Trivia

Melting Pot

Edit
Melting Pot was nominated for 6 awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Sound. The film won 1st Runner Up for Best Film, and Best Supporting Actor (Rick Huddleson) at Winterfilm IV, a film festival from SOFA, the Southern Ohio Filmmakers Association.
Blaque Fowler, the lead actor (Stan), has appeared in several studio movies including "October Sky", "Dirty Grandpa", and "Traveller", as well as TV shows "Nashville" and "Mercy Street". He was the lead actor in "Seven Days 'Till Midnight", an independent film. He was an extra in two "Hunger Games" movies. Fowler lives in North Carolina.
Director KC Allen and Cinematographer Greg Kraus moved cell phone flashlights around to simulate passing street lights in one of the scenes.
The score was written and produced by Cut Time Music in Columbus, Ohio. Composers Charles Mallory and Parker Wiksell went two days without sleep to finish the score on time. Their music has been heard in shows on MTV and HBO. This was their second score for a KC Allen film (along with Dark Of The Night).
Director KC Allen's family was asked to leave and go see a movie during some of the filming, as there were adult themes and partial nudity being filmed. The request was was for the benefit of the actor and his scenes, but also because KC's kids were below "Rated R" age.
