Matilda Lutz in Revenge (2017)

Trivia

Revenge

Edit
Revenge was filmed at a Moroccan location, chosen for the nondescript, isolated appearance of its desert setting. A small village in the background of the villa was not filmed to create the sense that the characters in the film are totally alone.
One of Fargeat's inspirations was the Steven Spielberg film Duel because it manages to generate tension using so few elements: a car, a truck and that's it.
Of the film's early scenes that view Jen through a male gaze and show her dancing with men, Fargeat said this was done because she wanted to embrace the fascinating, polarising image of Lolita. Jen can be empty and stupid and an object of desire if she wants. It shouldn't lead to a sexual assault.
The film features so much blood that, according to director Coralie Fargeat, the prop team would often run out of fake blood. Of course, the amount of blood loss indicated for both main protagonists, is (of course) absurd for human viability / recovery shown; in particular for 'Richard' (Keven Janssens); even at most, completely, the human body has (only) c. 5-6 litres (9 pints) 'available'; bleed out shock to shut down hypothermia soon would result from that shown.
Coralie Fargeat mentioned Wild at Heart (1990), Drive (2011), Under the Skin (2013), and the films of David Cronenberg as references for the film in her pitch to potential financiers.
