What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?

That is a bit what the two stars are supposed to be. Though don't ask me who is who - if you insist I'd say Statham is the unstoppable force and Dwayne the immovable object. Which would make sense, since he is the Rock ... Ok kidding aside now, we know this unlikely team made waves in the last Fast and Furious movie andwas the best thing about it. At least the funniest thing about it.

So if you liked that and you came for more of the same, you will be treated that way. And you should not expect anything other than just silly action and all that accompanies that. Idris Elba has quite the appearance early on, but cannot add to that after that. He is just a stepping stone - I'm being a bit unfair. He has quite a few moments. Still overall you might be a bit disappointed in his character - but an obvious continuation of Hobbs and Shaw might shed some light on that (who am I kidding it made enough money for them to continue with this)

    I wanted to hate it.

... But I just couldn't. It was so obviously refusing to take itself seriously that you couldnt help but be swept up in the fun. Yes, it's over the top, unsubtle and about as deep as a politicians sense of honesty, but I found myself enjoying the banter. It's a movie you can watch with half an eye and chuckle at. Just watch it with no preconceptions and enjoy the ride.

CGI needed to create chemistry between Dwayne & Jason

The repartee between the leads is painfully awkward and unfunny. The air marshall provided the first smile, 60 minutes in. $200 million budget, much of it CGI, yet the action did not excite. I really wish I picked Crawl instead.

Meh in just about every way

The Rock is just way too self-aware. He's heading to B-movie land fast but I guess he's made enough money to live comfortably before he gets there. He does the same thing in every movie, showing off his muscles, working out, flashing trademark facial expressions, bringing up his Samoan background and heritage, it's just obnoxious.

Most people under 20 would probably not believe how this franchise started out. How did it get from an FBI agent investigating a car tuner to becoming a spy franchise? It's not even a good one because it just rips off better movies. I was making a list during the film, it was embarrassing.

Jason Statham turns in his reliable phoned in performance, no more and no less. The man takes zero risks! Vanessa Kirby for some reason decided to go from a fantastic role in a great spy franchise in Mission Impossible to slumming in this low-grade trash heap. This is really the best she could do? Why not call Marvel and ask them for a job? Anything but this! Idris Elba has really disappointed me, from settling for a minor supporting cast role in the Thor movies to phoning it in in every movie he's in. The last time this man has been forced to actually act was The Wire. His acting abilities went down with Stringer Bell in that Baltimore condo. It's sad.

I have no idea how critics gave this great reviews. It's just bad and uninspired. A new low for the Fast and Furious franchise. Worse yet, they don't ever want to stop making these movies. It's crazy.

The Film is Missing "Engine" - Day 1 fans Protest!

This movie was the Rock trying to 1 up Vin Diesel by doing his impression of his own Fast and Furious film. Clearly we can NOW see what the issue was on-set of "The Fate And The Furious". When Dwayne Johnson said in interview him and Diesel had a different approach to film making, what he meant to say was "I put money over integrity". He sought out a deal behind Vin Deisels back and in spite of none of the original cast members not appearing in or supporting this film. Hobbs Customs in the trailer? I was like GTFOH ..now his family are car enthusiasts that live on a island? right. The heart of the fast and the furious was not ONLY about family, but most importantly it was about diversity before diversity was a subject in Hollywood. The reason why these films work globally is bc they had a character everyone could see themselves as. The film was green lit the Rocks WWE Fans & people who can't see what's actually going on with this film. This movie was a glory fest to be a prick for a cash grab with no heart and The Rock Show off exclusively one-half of his Bi-Racial background (Guess African American lives don't matter to him) and to pretend to have a heart. I would have preferred he introduced Samoan Culture in a different film or this been a different film entirely. Behind all that Charisma ..we can see a scared jacked up man on steroids who does films for his ego. His 2019 motivation speech said put your back to walk and use your angst of people not believing in you to move forward. Diesel says "lead with love" and the love here in this film is clearly false bravado.

You might've tricked Newer Fast & Furious Fans But you did not trick anyone who was in High School during Fast 1. Prick move. This movie had to rely on cameos for your contact list in your iPhone🤣 ..happy for all those who found work but get the Fast and Furious out of this film that needed to piggy back off of it. The Rock did not revitalise Fast, (Faster, Doom and more) tanked at the box office. Vin Diesel invited him on because him considering fan feedback. You think the Rock gives a damn about Fan Feedback? Or his production company 7 bucks? Vin Diesel as producer and Justin Lin since The Tokyo Drift saves fast and don't you forget it

    • Trivia
Dwayne Johnson said he tried hard to get Jason Momoa to play the role of Hobbs's brother, but scheduling issues prevented it from happening. However, Johnson gave fans hope for a future collaboration, adding, "Next Hobbs movie for sure." Vin Diesel then proceeded to go against Dwayne's plans by casting Momoa in Fast X as the sadistic, androgynous and flamboyant son of Fast Five's main villain, Hernan Reyes.
    • Goofs
When the attack on Samoa begins, it is supposed to be right before dawn. However, by the end of the attack it is midday. Since there was a 30 minute timer set right before the battle starts and just finishing up when the battle ends, it is clear that only 30 minutes passed. It should still be just after dawn when the action completes.
    • Quotes

British Customs Officer: [sees the name Mike Oxsmaull on Luke's boarding pass] My cock's small?

Luke Hobbs: [Embarrassed] I go by Michael.

    • Crazy credits
2 mid-credits scenes with Ryan Reynolds, and one post-credits scene with Hobbs getting his own back on Shaw, for his airport stop 'n' search.
    • Alternate versions
The ending is slightly different, depending on where you watch it. On TubiTV, for example, the climax is followed by a denouement consisting of Hobbs with Shaw arguing the various merits of sidekicks; shots of a cityscape; Queenie in jail and visited by Shaw and Hattie, who give her a suspicious birthday cake; Hobbs going home and introducing Sam to her grandmother. This is followed by a short scene with Champ calling Hobbs, warning him about a second virus, then more credits, then Hobbs calling Shaw, whom has been snitched out to the police, then the remainder of the credits. Finally, we return to the Hobbs and Champ phone call, and the film ends. In a version shown in Russia, however, after Champ has warned Hobbs about the second virus and the credits restart, the rest of Champ's call is shown on a side-by-side with the credits, followed by the remaining credits, and finally the Hobbs call to Shaw, ending the film. In summary, the order of the calls with Champ and Shaw have been reversed.
