BBC Studios is prepared to plough resource into its scripted and entertainment offerings as CEO Tom Fussell stresses the group’s “long-term mandate” amid global market contraction.
Fussell was joined by his new productions boss Zai Bennett at yesterday’s BBC Studios Showcase and the pair gave Deadline an insight into short, medium and long-term thinking.
For Bennett, who joined from Sky late last year, “maintaining our creative momentum” by investing in scripted and entertainment is the first priority.
“In scripted we are looking at whether there are investments we want to make in individuals or whether there are labels that have all the resources they need,” said Bennett. “How can we help them? They have brilliant relationships and I need to make sure the people running those labels have the environment and resources they need to back that up.”

In "Last Voyage of the USS Constitution," players have the option to side either with Ironsides and his robots, or Mandy and her group of scavengers. Siding with Mandy will require destroying the robots, and the reward is only a modest sum of caps. Choosing Ironsides leads to one of Fallout 4's best moments, and much better quest rewards.
Fallout 4 is packed full of fun side quests and places to explore, with one of the oddest that can be stumbled on being the beached USS Constitution. In one of the weirdest but wonderfully amusing quests, the Sole Survivor is tasked with helping a group of stranded tourist attraction robots or scrapping them for parts. However, there is a clear benefit to one choice over the other, both in terms of rewards and morality.

Piccolo's training of Gohan was a step towards redemption, driven by a desire to leave a lasting legacy for himself. Despite starting as enemies, Piccolo and Gohan's bond grew strong, with Piccolo becoming like a father figure to Gohan. Gohan credits much of his strength and growth to Piccolo's influence, solidifying Piccolo's legacy beyond his own expectations.
Piccolo's training of Gohan in Dragon Ball Z is one of his first steps towards redemption, although it doesn't really seem that way when one reads the beginning of the arc. Kami, however, was able to see through Piccolo's actions and identify his real motive at the time: to have a legacy.
In chapter 13 of Dragon Ball Z, Piccolo is seen setting Gohan up for his survival training, and mentions that Gohan should "curse his fate" as Piccolo has, should he be displeased with the situation. Kami and Mr. Popo are shown...

Drop Nineteens’ initial run may have only lasted four years, but the shoegaze pioneers’ 1992 debut album Delaware is widely considered one of the genre’s defining records. Now after 30 years away, they’re returning with their new album Hard Light on November 3rd on Wharf Cat Records. The lead single “Scapa Flow” is out now, and they’ve also announced some 2023 tour dates to celebrate their comeback.
By the time Drop Nineteens first disbanded, they’d already become massively successful. Lead singer and songwriter Greg Ackell was happy to go out on a high note and leave the music world on good terms, but probably didn’t anticipate the staying power Delaware would soon have in the indie rock sphere — thank goodness he kept his guitar around.
“The intent on Delaware was to reflect that time in our lives, which I think it did accurately,” Ackell explains in a statement.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may be the newest Zelda game, but it doesn't leave its past entirely behind, as there are a number of fun Easter eggs to be found throughout the Kingdom of Hyrule. Some references are easy to spot, but others may only ever be discovered by players with the keenest of eyes, attention to detail, and knowledge of the franchise's extensive (and confusing) lore.
Even more so than its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, there are plenty of items and locations for players to stumble across while exploring Totk's map. There are over one hundred Shrines on the surface and the Sky Islands, an equal number of Lightroots in the Depths, and a somehow even greater number of Korok seeds to find and collect for Hestu this time around. With so much on their plates already, it's not surprising that some players might...

All of Link's new abilities in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are entertaining to play around with, and there is one feature that can make it even more fun after players unlock it. Sadly, it is easy to miss the questline that leads to it, especially with as many interesting side quests and exploration that is opened up for Link early on. Totk's open world is wonderful with so many possibilities, but it makes it easy to delay some quests like this one, the reward for which would have made the game much more enjoyable.
Link gets many new powers in Tears of the Kingdom, including his incredible Ultrahand ability. Using this, players have been able to design incredible builds for either functional purposes or just for silly fun. Despite this, Ultrahand can also prove to be a bit tricky to use, and having to create the...

Tears of the Kingdom gives Link so many more tools than he had in Breath of the Wild, but the paraglider remains an essential asset. That’s why it’s so strange that you don’t start the game with it. After all, Breath of the Wild‘s opening hours were practically a paraglider playground.
Well, it turns out that the paraglider is in Tears of the Kingdom. You’re just going to have to work a little harder to acquire it.
In Tears of the Kingdom, you acquire the paraglider from a character named Purah. To find Purah, you’ll need to first complete the opening tutorial area. This is the area located beneath the Great Sky Island. It’s relatively short, and it should lead you into the greater Hyrule Field area.
Once you’re able to explore the world a bit, look for a place called Lookout Landing on your map.

Marvel Studios nailed it when they cast Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America. His performance radiates wholesomeness, determination and bravery while never feeling smarmy. But while Evans is obviously the most recognizable Cap, a few other actors have taken on the role over the years. Matt Salinger (the son of The Catcher in the Rye author J.D. Salinger!) played the part in the terrible 1990 movie and there’s also a 1944 serial based on the character.
But now we know that an unlikely person once stepped into the costume as well: Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s Commander Riker, Jonathan Frakes. The actor, who has since gone on to direct multiple episodes of Star Trek and the movies First Contact and Insurrection, recently returned to the role of Will Riker in Star Trek: Picard and directed two outings of the show as well.
So, how did he end up as Captain America?...

“Time to Hunt,” the Korean action thriller that had its world premiere last month as a gala screening at the Berlin Film Festival, has given up its theatrical release plans. Instead, it will be released by streaming giant Netflix in mid-April.
The move has not sat easily with Contents Panda, the Korean sales company which had pre-sold the film to more than 30 overseas distributors. “Contents Panda will take legal action with (producer) Little Big Pictures to minimize the international damage that will be caused by this case,” Contents Panda said in a statement sent to Variety.
The film was directed by Yoon Sung-hyun (“Bleak Night”) and tells a revenge tale of four no-hopers in a dystopian near future who pick the wrong target to rob. It pulls together a cast of rising star youngsters including Lee Je-hoon, Ahn Jae-hong, Choi Woo-shik, Park Jeong-min and Park Hae-soo.
