Upon watching "Who Done It: The Clue Documentary", "Clue" writer/director Jonathan Lynn e-mailed documentary director Jeff C. Smith and said "I enjoyed it very much. I learned a few things. It's a lovely tribute to the film."
A fourth ending of "Clue" was filmed but is "lost" somewhere in the vaults of Paramount Pictures. Undeterred, the documentary recreates the fourth ending through animation and narration from the "Clue" storybook.
The documentary reveals Carrie Fisher was originally cast to play Miss Scarlet but had to bow out as she was going in to rehab due to cocaine use. Director Jonathan Lynn humorously said "Everybody that I met in Hollywood seemed to have hay fever."
Before completing the documentary, director Jeff C. Smith began co-hosting a "Clue" themed podcast with Brad Gilmore called "Clue: The Movie Podcast" Each episode, the hosts dissect the movie one minute at a time. "Clue" cast members Lesley Ann Warren and Jeffrey Kramer have appeared on the show.
Premiered at The Art Theatre in Long Beach, California on November 3, 2022.
