Boring. Was it a comedy?
Seems like it's a comedy, but it wasn't funny and mostly boring. Script was extremely poor and the great array of actors were un-utilized. Sorry to all the actors who were involved. I know you can do beter, I've seen your movies and seen you do better.

If "Grownups" dropped the families
I find Grownups fun for what is it's target audience and rated it pretty high. But if you didn't like those films, you'll hate this one. The writing isn't as sharp, the gags and jokes are more raunchy and the cast, though fair actors in their best films, is not full of comedic professionals.
I thought the main games action section was well done but unfortunately none of the characters are that likeable nor relatable. In starring, direction and co-writing this film, Josh Duhamel may have stretched himself too thin in his directorial debut.
Okay to pass some time but not a film you will rewatch.

don't like them
A group of guys are best friends who play their Buddy Games over the years. Shelly (Dan Bakkedahl) is the aggressive alpha male. Bender (Nick Swardson) does something which ends their games. It's 5 years later. Shelly's mother is scared for his mental health and asks Bobfather (Josh Duhamel) to restart the Buddy Games.
I don't like any of these people and that is its biggest problem for a comedy trying to be funny. I don't see Bakkedahl as this alpha male and certainly not without him being a jerk. I understand the comedic premise of making a chubby loser be the alpha of the group. It's not working. There are some attempts at gross out humor which could work if I cared about these guys. Maybe Duhamel should be playing Shelly and Bakkedahl could switch roles. The writing isn't good enough at any rate. It's not going to work even for the best comedians.

Not funny
The story is just too juvenile to be a celebration of brotherhood. The jokes are not funny.
Broship with well-known actors
A bunch of middle-aged men reminisce about the times they had earlier in life. The "Buddy Games" were a concept they developed to have fun, win among friends and create memories. After a more serious incident they lost touch for a few years but reconvened to have a last competition.
The plot is not complex; old friends coming together to have fun again is not something we haven't seen before. But the quality acting with well-known actors allows for a fun time.

- GoofsAbout 5 minutes into the movie, Shelly is holding a bucket and having a mock interview, holding up a fake microphone to Bender with his right hand, then comes back to talk. The camera angle changes and shows Shelly talking into his left hand..
