Danielle Savre in Deep Blue Sea 2 (2018)

Trivia

Deep Blue Sea 2

Edit
In Deep Blue Sea (1999), the shark facility is called Aquatica. In the sequel, the shark facility is called Akheilos. In Greek mythology, Akheilos (or Acheilus) is the son of Zeus and Lamia. Akheilos offends Aphrodite, boasting that he is more beautiful than she, and is then transformed into a grotesque shark-like creature.
While pregnant, the bull shark pups will cannibalize in the womb, as a "survival of the fittest and/or smartest" nature tactic. So a female bull shark will typically give birth to about 1 or 2 pups at a time. The film suggests that the genetic altering had changed the pups nature, so instead of cannibalizing, they ate the humans as an alternative "survival of the fittest and/or smartest" tactic, as more than 2 pups were born.
(at around 14 mins) The lyrics one of the researchers is singing paraphrase those from "You Don't Mess Around with Jim" by Jim Croce, only he says "You don't piss into the wind, or tug on Superman's cape", which is actually from the refrain but backwards. Here is refrain: "And you don't tug on superman's cape. You don't spit into the wind. You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger. And you don't mess around with Jim."
This sequel comes out 19 years after the original (1999) to (2018).
In 2008, Jack Perez was set to direct the film from his own script for direct-to-video label Warner Premiere. The basic premise was a scientific research ship (with a maze of tunnels that the weaponized sharks can travel through) hijacked by Somali pirates, and a team of Navy SEALs that are sent to take them out.
