Right, well this 2017 Vietnamese horror comedy titled "Yeu Di, Dung So!" (aka "Kiss and Spell") from writer and director Stephane Gauger had an interesting synopsis. And a combination of its synopsis and the fact that I hadn't already seen it made me pick it up and give it a chance.
But I didn't even make it halfway through the ordeal that is "Yeu Di, Dung So!" before I had to toss the towel in the ring and give up watching it out of sheer and utter boredom. Writer and director Stephane Gauger utterly failed to conjure up a script and storyline that had any entertainment value. The narrative in the movie was just unappealing and provided me with zero enjoyment, and thus it was a rather difficult movie to suffer through.
And it really didn't help much that the characters and their dialogue was every bit as unappealing. I am sure that they had some good talents on the cast list, but the actors and actresses virtually had nothing worthwhile to work with and bring to the screen. And given my limited exposure to the Vietnamese cinema, then I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble.
With "Yeu Di, Dung So!" being a horror comedy, I have to say that writer and director Stephane Gauger failed to deliver on both accounts.
I have zero intentions of returning to attempt finish watching "Yeu Di, Dung So!", solely because I found absolutely nothing worthwhile or entertaining about the movie. And this is definitely not a movie that I would recommend you spend your time, money or effort on.
My rating of "Yeu Di, Dung So!" lands on a two out of ten stars, and it is the production value of the movie that keeps the movie from scraping the bottom of the barrel with a one star rating.
