As an art student about to graduate from Pratt, the alma mater of the gang, this film made me think and have a good laugh about what it means to be an artist. Great work from Mike Walker and John Wollman !
Dan Pierson has graduated from art school but nobody wants his art. It's not dark enough. He comes up with an unusual idea. He has to paint his mother nude. This is an indie of three friends from art school struggling to make it in the New York art world.
There is some good skewering of the art world. The only problem is that I don't really care about these characters. Some of that is probably the no name actors. A lot of it has to be my dislike of Dan's self-righteousness. If I actually care about these people, this would be a compelling watch.

PAINT is an intelligent, fresh, fun look into the world of aspiring artists with a depth of story and characters that keep the viewer enthralled throughout. The film explores several themes: value & perception of value in art, integrity & corruption in the art world, and generational differences, all as it moves through unexpected relationships and the joy and challenges in each. See PAINT for the thought-provoking insight, but come away laughing at the sharp dialogue and situations. I loved every minute of this original new film!
This movie has clearly been underrated, such a nice one i highly recommend it!
This movie started surprisingly well. I laughed out loud for the first fifteen minutes or so - I thought it was smart, original and funny, but unfortunately it looses rapidly it's steam, and becomes some kind of light comedy about the world of art. I was disappointed but saw the whole film nonetheless, hoping it would regain some force. It didn't.
