In Season 1, Episode 11 "Thief", Syd's father, Joseph Burnett, asks, "So, who are you gonna call?" as a exterminator. He is played by Ernie Hudson from Ghostbusters (1984), the movie famously uses that line. In addition, Ben Baines said, "I ain't afraid of no rat." Similar to, "I ain't afraid of no ghost."

In episode 1, Syd left her watch to a kid witness, it has etched 'from Mike' which is reference to Mike Lowrey of Bad Boys II (2003).
