The movie was filmed on the Peles Castle, a Neo-Renaissance castle in the Carpathian Mountains, situated in Sinaia, in Romania.
On December 10, 2017 Netflix revealed in a tweet that 53 of its subscribers had watched the film every day over the past 18 days.
When asked what made her sign on to do a film like this, Rose McIver said, "I just think it's a fun, happy Christmas movie. I have every opportunity in my life to do really dark, gritty stories, and this is something that was just fun."
At the beginning, there are scenes of New York City and there is one scene of Chicago which is easily recognized due to the Chicago city flag.
Rose Mclver has the same last name in this movie as does her character on the TV show iZombie.
