A Humorous Detective Movie
A light hearted mystery. Unlike many movies of the same ilk, it does not take itself too seriously. It does get too campy at times. But it is a change.
The Chimes at Midnight
The second episode really hits the ground running. It is hard to think that Luella is an hairdresser just turned detective.
Frank and Luella have been hired to investigate acts of sabotage in an old people's home. Sebastian has been sent undercover as a care assistant armed with Google Glass and an hidden camera.
Sebastian thinks that one of the resident's is making the home look bad so his son can take him away. However when one of the owner's of the home is killed, Frank and Luella believe that it is something to do with past negligence.
The series seems to have settled in well, some nice scenes of Stratford but it still takes getting used to some of the slapstick which feels a little jarring.

Already become a top notch show.
Second episode down, and it's already settled down into a really lovely show. This second episode had a great sense of humour, it was a fun little mystery, with some lovely characters, including a temperamental Chef, and a rather mischievous Timothy West.
Some of the jokes were very funny, West in particular had me chuckling. Nice to see laughs in a Nursing Home, normally the settings only for sombre scenes.
Timothy West and Vicki Pepperdine were both terrific.
A good mystery, fun performances and laughs, welcome viewing at any time of day. 8/10

- TriviaThe title comes from Falstaff's line in Henry IV Part 2, Act 3 Scene 2: "FALSTAFF We have heard the chimes at midnight, Master Shallow".
- GoofsLu says that Ian didn't serve quiche because the rolling pin became soiled at noon and he couldn't roll the pastry with it afterward. However, quiche to be served at 12:30 would need to already be in the oven by noon. Ian either forgot to put the quiche in the oven at all, or, more likely, took longer to get back to kitchen than he had planned and burned the quiches.
- Quotes
Penelope Pincott: Right everyone, I've got someone who I'd like you to meet.
Johnny Falstaff: Is it Kim Kardashian?
Penelope Pincott: No, Mr Falstaff, it is not.
Johnny Falstaff: Then I'm not interested.
