This film originally began as a script called "What Everyone Says About High School" which failed production once in 2015 and once in 2017. When it was turned into "The Hunt and Hunted", 98% of the script was rewritten with many characters cut. The only cast + crew members who remained in "The Hunt and Hunted" was Jazlyn Sarmiento, Jonathan Rome as Writer/Director, Robert Eliason as Executive Producer, and Jeremiah Carbajal as Producer.
Rome wrote this movie (rewrite) at the age of 17 from August 2017 - October 2017. Production lasted from November 2017 to February 2018 with post-production from March 2018 - April 2018. This was all while balancing his senior activities at his high school, Everett Alvarez High School.
Rome casted Tristen Tecala as Logan just from seeing him on his friend's Snapchat story. This was Tecala's first major acting role and first on-screen role.
Rome was not originally planned to play Hunter. Rome was only to serve as Director until his choice for Hunter, Dylan Allen, revealed many conflicts. Rome took up the mantle after reading Hunter's part and deciding that it was the best decision to make.
Robert Eliason has funded every one of Rome's productions. Rome dedicates all of his films to Eliason and his mother, Fona.
