Ben Kullman, who plays Kalimoth, accidentally stabbed himself in the wrist during the sword fight with Arcturus. However, he didn't flinch, continuing to film the entire scene while the rest of the cast and crew believed he was using a fake blood pack. It wasn't until after the scene was completed that it was revealed that the blood was real. The actor was then rushed to the emergency room. Many of the shots used in the final cut show real blood from the incident, both on the actors and on the armor.
Ray Niemira, who plays King Myklos, passed away during the middle of production. The story was adjusted and several scenes were added or modified to explain his absence. Every scene that he filmed before his death was kept in the final cut.
