Synopsis

  • Is there a sport in which winning is not the only goal? The answer is yes, it is Ultimate Frisbee and is played without a referee. You don't believe it? Wait for the next Olympic Games or watch this film. Get Big is a feature-length documentary about Ultimate Frisbee. Ultimate is a team sport played with a flying disc. It was born in American counterculture at the end of the 60s. Now it is played all over the world and it is founded on fair play and Spirit of the Game. There is no referee and players call their own fouls. Following Beefree, a team from Turin, we'll find out about a game that could teach us a lot. Throughout the championship games, it won't miss a chance to live the original Spirit of the Game. Indeed, we'll see our players during a great hat beach tournament, on the island of Sardinia. Will Beefree be able to maintain the balance between the soul of Ultimate and the desire to win? The documentary's primary intention is to share the knowledge of a sport that deserves greater media coverage. Ultimate is a sport that brings with it important educational values. Within the team there are people who come from different social, cultural and geographical backgrounds. These barriers are transcended by the team sport and the importance given to the Spirit of the Game. This aspect makes the documentary perfect for any educational goal. Since some years Ultimate has been brought into schools as an educational tool for values such as respect for the opponent and honesty. The primary target of this project is a young person, of either gender, (10-35) looking for a sport that can give them a different approach to being competitive and to physical activity. The film could also secondarily be of interest to parents, teachers and mentors who work on group dynamics.
