Jenny Boyd (Lizzie Saltzman) attended the same acting class as Candice King, who plays Lizzie's mother Caroline on The Vampire Diaries (2009). The two being in the same class and after she got the part, Boyd approached King in class and announced, "I'm playing your daughter!"
Jenny Boyd replaces Allison Gobuzzi as Lizzie Saltzman, and Kaylee Bryant replaces Bella Samman as Josie Saltzman in their respective roles on The Originals (2013). Gobuzzi and Samman did however appear in an season two flashback reprising their roles.
The majority of the show's exterior shots are filmed at Covington, GA. Conyers, GA is also a major filming location for this show. Conyers is where most of the production work for the series has been carried out. Legacies was also filmed at other locations in the state of Georgia, including Loganville, Dallas, and Atlanta.
Following Nexstar Media Group's majority acquisition of the network and the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, the show was canceled in its 4th season as part of the great culling of The CW's major programming lineup by both conglomerates.
