The music academy exteriors were filmed at Burg Hohenwerfen near Salzburg, Austria. Previous films made there include Just Married and Where Eagles Dare. The academy interior were filmed at Schloss Leopoldskron where they also filmed The Sound of Music
Dr. Longbow is played by F. Murray Abraham, best known for his role in another movie about Mozart, Amadeus (1984), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Antonio Salieri.
Originally, parts of the film were to be shot in Morocco, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the scenes were shot at Bavaria Studios in Munich.
Cosima Henmann is the daughter of director and screenwriter Granz Henman.
Awarded the rating "valuable" by the German Film and Media Rating (FBW).
