I was so looking forward to this new Canadian series!! Sadly I have to agree this is dull and boring. Police crime and Canada are like ... well what can one say ... they just go together. What has happened to shows like Cold Case and Rookie Blue and Da Vinci's 2 series that all ran multiple seasons? So sorry Murder you just don't measure up with plot or actors. The location, Vancouver is the only stand out with this show!

The Murders was never going to be exceptional but it does have a decent cast and its crime drama credentials "could" have amounted to something.
I say "could" because its cloyingly pretentious, preachy, overstated political correctness rob it of much of its entertainment value.
The result is an often tiresome, tepid affair, that's a marginal watch at best. 5/10 from me.

Kate Jameson (Jessica Lucas) is a rookie homicide detective following her respected late father's footsteps. Her mother is running for mayor. On her first day, she loses her gun which is used in a murder. Her corrupt partner directs her in a cover up as they track down the killer. She is conflicted morally about setting up the drug addict killer which ends up with the shoot-out deaths of both her partner and the killer. She gets away scot free but she is forever haunted by the ethically compromised start to her career.
Starting with the title, there is a blandness to this show. The Canadian production is somewhat bland. Lucas is a bit light to do a serious cop procedural. It does start with an intriguing first day for her but it's a slow downhill slide from there. There just isn't anything outstanding in this bland police procedural.

I really enjoy Jessica Lucas' acting, so I don't blame her.
As usual, these days, it's the talentless writers that squander the opportunities offered with a new series.
PC, always some misandry, special group pandering, and the unbelievable premise that a detective, responsible through her neglect and incompetence for the death of a fellow cop,* is not* delegated to desk duty for the remainder of his/her career...and terminally shunned by fellow cops.

... this show really deserved a better fate than to be ended after one season eight episodes... taking a little while finding its footing... where most crime shows have a blend of crime stories and personal stories in most episodes... this production as well, both sides of these stories blended pretty well together, and as well the cast was solid throughout
... not doing lots very different, didn't make it bad... it was entertaining from one episode to the next, and that cannot be said of many shows running season after season... & if/when it might somehow return again.. would also bring it back with an altered title.

Worth watching only for Jessica Lucas. Her sidekick is really unpleasant. Half the dialogue is exposition. The incidental music is awful. It's a daytime cop show with annoying characters and Murder of the Day plots.
Not a very good show. This incompetent cop would have been demoted or fired in real life after the first episode. The police station is ridiculous. It's on the ground floor with huge windows facing out to the street. Anyone walking by can see right inside and view everything going on, including evidence boards.Absurd.

Canada what is going on? You have made some of my favourite police dramas in the past and then this year you make this and another one with a dog that is just as dull, boring and bland. #Where is the edginess, the drama, the humour, the sexual tension, where is ANYTHING to make either of these shows even remotely watchable. Is this modern tv? too frightened to do anything that even a single person may in some way possibly find offensive? Just plain boring.

This is a great cop drama. While it seems all of you want it to start with a boom, the best TV shows start with a slow burn. The first 8 episodes are creating characters we come to know. As we begin to understand what drives all of them, we have a chance to see where it can go. I watch more TV than is healthy, and this is a great new drama. I guess it seems only the critics have time to post here. This show is great, the characters are multi-layered giving them room to grow, have hardships, and relationships. This reminds me of the Walking Dead which started as a totally low budget show that it appeared only I knew about.

Their promo about a cop seeking redemption is false advertising. After episode 2 the show seems to have forgotten about that whole incident. The character they killed off could have saved the show. The actor was stronger than the rest of the cast you are left with and the character was the most interesting of the lot.
The cast is weak and they sink the show. The cases they investigate aren't bad but it wasn't enough for me to waste 4 more hours of my life finishing of the series. Give it a miss there are definitely better cop shows out there.

Reading the numerous pretentious quasi-critics among these reviews is more sad than funny. I like Canadian-style writing, particularly in their crime dramas, but I don't confuse them with the US/Hollywood spawn. Canada isn't the US, regardless of what that might or may not mean to the shallow US market, US-Canada are different societies, actually, as another form of diversity. As British drama varies from its US counterpart, Canada has its own style, and different isn't really a basis for better or worse, actually. Some of the best drama streaming on the internet is Canadian...with less chaff among the wheat than the US TV/movie market. It's often more entertaining with less neurosis than British or US counterparts. "The Murders" is quite good within its boundaries. Vancouver, BC, isn't Toronto, or Los Angeles, or New Orleans, which is not a good or bad thing...it's Vancouver and that works for this crime drama.

Just another good looking and sexy cast of 30-somethings pretending to be a complete crime solving unit with oodles and oodles of crime solving experience under their belt. I guess they must have all started their policing careers when they were all five (5) years old because no one on this police force is over the age of thirty (30). Oh, and did I mention both the men and women on this crime solving unit are all slim and trim hot looking GQ and FHM magazine cover girls and boys?
Give me a break will you puhleeeese!!!!!
The storylines are so weak but not as weak as some of the co-stars acting. Mrs. Shullivan and I watched the first four (4) episodes and then hit the "DELETE" button on this series. Why? Because it was sheer "MURDER" to watch anymore.
UgggggggLLLLLLLLLyyyyyyy a 3 out of 10 rating

Words cannot express how horrible this serie is.
Terribly written and so slow it actually made me fall asleep.
High score rating is obviously from friends of the cast and crew.
I had to give it one star because zero isn't an option.

Good plot twists, solid performances especially from Jessica and Luvia. Love the sound track and Vancouver looks amazing in this show. I'm hooked
This is probably the most boring show I've seen in a while. It's just dull!!
Some of the acting as well. Questionable
... at the time of reviewing this show had a 5.8 IMDb rating.
It is trite, predictable, suspenseless and senseless.
Please don't waste your time, it's more than enough that I've wasted mine!

OMG this was some of the worst acting I've ever seen. I couldn't even make it through the first 40 minutes of the first episode. Too bad because the story line was excellent.
I give every show a chance ... like what they say about a baseball game: the all start out as a no-hitter ... so I watched the pilot and (just to make sure) the next episode. This sucks major: the acting is bad ... like B-A-D ... this should have never made the cut, we're better of with re-runs of something to take broadcast time.
What were they thinking? They are professionals who should know and pull the plug before this embarrassing excuse for a TV-show hits my antenna (or cable ... whatever).

Honestly really enjoying this show so far... I know we're not too far in yet, but I'm intrigued to see where things go...
Acting is good, writing is good. Will keep watching...

Usually won't leave bad reviews, but this is one of the worst written cop dramas I have ever seen.
Watched a few episodes (just to ensure I'm not being too harsh), and to pass the tedium, made a game of counting the numerous illogical or unprofessional decisions the main characters make each episode.
Even the motivation behind the actions of the criminals' they encounter make no sense.
The dialog is nonsensical as well, so really hard to fault the actors in this case.
Love a good mystery show, but unfortunately this is not one of them.
If it wasn't for the local locations scenes (outside Vancouver) not sure I could watch it. Dialogue reads like the script for Robin the Wonder Boy 1966
Another series more concerned with filling in the PC quota instead of writing a good and convincing story. Wasted my time watching the first two episodes as I usually like crime drama. Giving the rest of it a miss.
