Writer/Director Steve Farrell who also plays Dave Kennedy has been a fan of soap opera Neighbours since he was a small child. He also watched Prisoner Cell Block H with his Grandmother as a child and this is what resulted in him reaching out to actor Nigel Bradshaw who was in both shows. Nigel liked the script and agreed to take part in the show.
Kev Taylor (John West) refers to the movie Yesterday (2019) in which West, Adam Gammage (Tyrone) David Stebbeds (Toby) and Tom Moore (Rob) played extras in the beach scene in Great Yarmouth.
Our Town was only meant to be a set of 6 short episodes to tackle real life issues during the original filming period in 2017. This was extended to 12 due to the amount of people who wanted to be involved. In 2018 it switched to the soap format in 2018 during series 4.
The show has no real budget and is self funded with a few donations made by people. With the amount of people, locations, props and logistics, the show has to film full story lines in one or two day blocks using quick filming techniques.
Mick mentions to Karen how the landlady in an episode of Four in a Bed reminds him of her. Tim Anderson (Mick) and Jules Maxine (Karen) both appeared in the show as contestants when they owned a pub in Suffolk.
