In the scene where Dale is planting flowers, a palm tree can be seen behind him giving away the fact they're not really in North Dakota; they're in central California.
The story is based on the experiences of the owner of the Dassinger Ranch. Laws passed by animal rights activists were misused to try and confiscate his livestock.
The license plates on Janna's Ford Pickup are California plates at 1:12:10 then later they change correctly to North Dakota plates.
The shadow in the stable at the end is not a crew member but the reporter taking video for evidence.
