Poinsettias' red "petals" are called bracts. They are actually leaves, not flower petals. The bracts can be many different colors, not just red or green.
The title is correct when it says that Poinsettias need (almost) total darkness in order to grow its familiar red bracts.
The so-called baking expert says they are "sifting" the flour. They are actually just beating it with a mixer, which fluffs it up a bit but is not sifting, which is done through a sifter or strainer.
Poinsettias are native to hot, dry forested areas in Mexico. They would not grow well on a snowy Canadian farm.
