On 25th October 2019, ITV announced that it had no plans for the lavish period drama to return for a second series. The drama is scheduled to air in the U.S. in March 2020 and creator Gurinder Chadha is hopeful an international broadcaster may pick up the show.
Lesley Nicol (Henrietta Beecham) has worked with Bessie Carter's (Violet) real life father, Jim Carter in the tv show (and the film, Downton Abbey (2019)), Downton Abbey (2010). They played Mrs. Patmore and Mr. Carson respectively.
The East India Company's armies were not part of HM's armed forces. As such they did not - as shown - carry the National Colors of the UK. Rather they carried a private, company flag known as the "gridiron flag". Oddly enough, it had red and white stripes like the US flag, with the Union Jack inthe canton.
In reality, most of the East India Company's troops were Indian, with British, or European officers. Many of the redcoats shown are uniformed as Royal Marines.
