Dead Weight (2017)

Trivia

Dead Weight

Edit
The movie was dedicated to, and partially based on, the deaths of two really people, Geraldine Clancy and her daughter Louise, who died in a car crash on the 22nd of December 2015. The director/writer, George Overington, was a friend of Louise when she was at Sussex University.
The audio heard form the TV off-screen just before the animated flashback comes from two previous movies that the director had worked on. This first being a movie called 'Fall', which was about a man being confronted by an after-life caseworker after he commits suicide. The second was a movie called 'World Apart' which is about a daughter and father growing apart after the mother died.
The machine that makes the special glasses was made from an old VHS player, the mother board on an old computer, and some lights and wires from a craft shop. The antenna on the top was made from copper piping, and was made to resemble the old RKO logo.
All the cartoons seen on the TV were public domain cartoons from the 1930's. They were used because it was a cheap way of adding more elements to the scene, and because the writer is a big fan of old cartoons.
During rehearsals just before filming, it was discovered that all the filming dates had gotten mix up with the actors, and locations holder's schedules, so it all had to be reorganized within two weeks.
