Each house on the street tells and new story with a central storyline linking the stories together. Some of the characters living on this fictional street - and put into original tales - are pulled directly from some of Matt Shaw's short stories, novels and novellas. So fans of Shaw's work keep your eyes peeled... You may just see some characters you recognise.
Whilst writing on the screenplay, Matt Shaw would listen to the same songs on repeat to keep the characters' emotions to the right level in his own mind. Songs would include: Boney M "Daddy Cool" and Donovan's "Hurdy Gurdy Man".
Matt Shaw was only supposed to appear as a cameo in ONE segment of the film. There were two segments being filmed on that day - Mr. Lonely (Matt's segment, starring with Laura Wilson) and HANDY (also featuring Laura and another actor). Unfortunately the actor who was supposed to be in the second segment didn't show up due to a cancelled flight so, with quick thinking, HANDY was re-written so that it featured the SAME male character as featured in the segment Mr. Lonely. This meant that the cast and crew filmed Mr. Lonely first and then were able to jump straight to the second film to ensure it wasn't missed out. This was the only option given how the production is independent and to rearrange the shoot for another day would have cost the team double what it was supposed to.
The end result works better than had already been planned so - all was good.
