Mostly filmed in and around downtown Raleigh, North Carolina.
During the filming of the downtown exterior scenes on a Sunday, the bells of a nearby church rang for nearly the entire duration of the shoot.

Ogilvie cites Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), Blowup (1966), The Swimmer (1968), Party Girl (1995), The Last Days of Disco (1998), Broken Flowers (2005), and The Neon Demon (2016) as influences for this film. The television series Mad Men (2007-2015) and Twin Peaks (1990-1991) were also a major influences, as well as the experiences of the film's lead actor, Linden Jackson, who modeled in Chicago for some time.
