Short answer yes. The movie was originally made as just Mt Misery Road. Amityville was added later, as it's recognizable as a horror ' brand' but since it is the real name of location , the name is in the public domain. This and other movies have incorporated the name 'Amityville' into their titles to increase the awareness and make it appear like it's part of the official Amityville series
