Shooting began in 2017 and was completed in 2020, after $9,000 was generated on the fundraising platform, Indiegogo. Director William Hellfire estimates that production went $1,000 over that.
Director William Hellfire worked for Gary Whitson, founder of WAVE Productions and subject of this documentary, during the 1990s. Hellfire thought it was amazing that Whitson was still making movies in 2016 and decided to make this documentary. He contacted Whitson and pitched the idea. Whitson loved it and gave Hellfire access to his complete catalogue of films.
