Creepy short videos simulating a local television during late night.

A colleague at work suggested I watch this as he thought the type of horror present would appeal to me and he suggested others as well. This was my kind of thing as it told a story in an unconventional way, through a new horror trope dubbed 'analog horror'. This one uses things such as the final broadcast of the night and strange late night programming to tell a story that is downright creepy!

The story, well, there it one but discussing it would kind of ruin things. Suffice to say, seems something is going on with the moon as strange messages, cartoons and stargazing shows flesh out during the duration of only 8 episodes. Seriously worth checking out though as it takes maybe fifteen minutes to get through it. My favorite episode had to be the stargazing one though, that one started so mundanely and got the most intense!

This new form of horror is pretty neat; granted, I have only seen this one, The Mandela Catalogs and Gemini Videos fully. I tried to do the Walton Files which is rated highly here, but it just did not work for me at all and I could not get into it. Then again, I've never found the mechanical creatures at a Showbiz pizza scary in the least. This is the one that kind of set the trend and I liked it a lot, though Gemini is my fave only because there are more episodes and it is longer. This one hopefully continues because I want to learn more about what is going on.

So, a very good short horror series, I find it odd that a lot of time it is the short horror films that you find on Youtube much more scary than anything that Hollywood spits out these days. There is just something about the way they are presented and the fact they usually do take the time to bring you a very disturbing image within the usually short running time.

Good luck sleeping

I watched this at way too young of an age and this traumatized the hell out of me. Apecially the deep sleep one UGHH. Each video has this looming dreadful atmosphere. A lot of the horror is build on playing with the viewers beliefs. The info lies to you and tries to manipulate you to control you. This analog horror format works perfectly for this because it makes you, the viewer feel like the tapes are made for you. That feeling you get as if no one else has watched this. Its a cosmic horror based around the moon. There is a lot of references and detials about the sky. And of course local 58 started this whole analog horror trend so I feel you are obligated as a fan to watch this one as well.

The Fastest Available Route at 476 MHz

Local 58 didn't scare me. It didn't even create a sense of anxiety. Local 58 blew me away. A series of recordings from an old TV station is a fresh and open field for experimentation. Kris Straub used this field really well.

In recent years, found footage has gained significant popularity, especially in the "YouTube Horror Industry". You can come across many productions trying to imitate old recordings from the second half of the 20th century. L58 does it best and most beautifully. Watching this series was pure eye candy. The creator mainly used public domain sources and self-made recordings. Inspiring.

I'm really impressed. This is a perfect example of how, using imagination and a camera, you can create a fascinating, original work.

Excellent Youtube horror series!

This is the perfect kind of horror for me. What else can I say? These videos are perfectly unsettling, and they are very VERY well made to boot! While there have been plenty of these horrendous "SCARY 3AM CHALLENGES" and "REAL GHOST SIGHTING AT 3AM" videos plaguing Youtube over the past few years, Local 58 stands above them all. In every way, shape, and form.

Local 58 is the epitome of "Quality over Quantity" as there are only 8 videos on this Youtube channel (as of this writing this review). They are all significantly better than the "content farms" that churn out content several times a day. There's some well done 2D animation in one of the videos, old VHS aesthetic in all that perfectly captures the eerie feel of the 1960s/70s, and plenty of small details being analyzed by people as we speak, making the mystery behind this experimental Youtube channel all the more exciting and relevant!

What more can I say? Go check out Local 58 already if you haven't! Well done Kris Straub for making the best horror content I've seen on the site!!! :)

Among the very notorious videos include:

-Real Sleep -Show for Children -Contingency -You are on the fastest available route! -Skywatching -Weather Service

All of which are perfectly eerie and frightening. Here's to hoping for more content in the coming months and years! Please check out Local 58!
