The trailer for Kung Fu Games boasts that it’s from one of the executive producers of Halloween: Resurrection. For those who don’t remember, that’s the one where Michael Myers gets beaten up by rapper Busta Rhymes. The fact that they thought a connection to that film was something to boast about should have been all the warning I needed.
Instead, I found myself watching a group of confused people wake up in what looks like a subway car as lights flash and sirens sound. A door opens, and they run out into what looks like a fog enshrouded bamboo forest, where one of them gets impaled with a spear and the rest get attacked by fighters who rappel down from the clouds.

One of my favorite guys to interview is Dave Bautista. He admirably takes his craft seriously and continues to impress with each role he plays. The man is freaking talented, and he works at it. And he is one of the kindest guys to talk to. Sitting across from him and Sofia Boutella to discuss their new film The Killer’s Game was a delight. Sofia opened up about being a dancer, which is quite prevalent in the new movie. The two enjoyed each other’s company as their on-screen chemistry expertly translated into an in-person chat beautifully.
Dave Bautista is one of those guys who are genuinely entertaining to watch. In his latest, he portrays an assassin who discovers he has a terminal illness. The feature, directed by J.J. Perry, has fun blending drama, action, and comedy. And it also helps that Mr. Bautista’s co-star is Sofia Boutella. The two are undeniably terrific together.

Dave Bautista, whose latest action comedy The Killer’s Game comes to theaters this Friday, is ready to make hearts go pitter-pat by starring in a romantic comedy. In the past, Bautista questioned if he was “too unattractive” to become a silver-screen Lothario, asking Page Six in a 2023 interview, “Is there something that unappealing about me that excludes me from these parts?” Aww, Dave! Don’t listen to your Emo Teen Life Coach. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about! I know plenty of people who find your rugged good looks alluring, and then some.
Fast-forward to the Los Angeles premiere of The Killer’s Game, where Bautista told The Hollywood Reporter that his Page Six comments “sparked quite a conversation, but I started getting a lot of phone calls after that.”
“I said that and started getting calls immediately,” Bautista continued. “So we’ve got a couple that we...

After waging war with House Atreides in Dune: Part Two, Dave Bautista trades his Harkonnen armor for something more discrete as he slips into the role of a hitman on borrowed time in The Killer’s Game trailer. Lionsgate shared the first trailer, poster, and images for the upcoming action comedy from director J.J. Perry. The promo features the former wrestler-turned-Hollywood superstar as an assassin with a dry wit fighting for his life after receiving a false diagnosis from his doctor. Thinking he’s suffering from a terminal illness and only has three months to live, Bautista’s hitman, Joe Flood, must survive an onslaught of savvy killers looking to collect his head.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Killer’s Game courtesy of Lionsgate:

XYZ Films knows a good thing when they see it, and that’s why the studio preemptively purchased the U.S. rights to Skyline: Warpath, a sequel in the Skyline universe starring Iko Uwais and Scott Adkins. Liam O’Donnell (Beyond Skyline) directs the threequel from his own script, with filming taking place in Indonesia. You can check out Uwais and Adkins in the first-look images from Skyline: Warpath above and below.
Joining Uwais and Adkins and cast members are Louis Mandylor, Randall J. Bacon, and Yayan Ruhain.
According to XYZ, the story for Skyline: Warpath picks up five years after Beyond Skyline. The plot “follows Sua (Uwais) as he leads The Resistance against the aliens. Sharpen your sword and show us your war face because Saban Films‘s Boudica: Queen of War trailer is soaking the soil with blood as battle cries echo throughout the plains. In Boudica: Queen of War, Olga Kurylenko plays a mother whose life is stolen when high-ranking members of the Roman Empire storm her lands, slay her family, and brand her a nobody in the eyes of the aristocracy. Unfortunately for the Roman Empire, the people still see Kurylenko’s character as their queen and would follow her onto any battlefield without question. Given the name Boudica by her loyal subjects, the would-be queen inspires her followers to take up arms in the name of freedom from the Roman Empire. What follows is a bloodbath of epic proportions as rage leads to a plan to topple the corrupt Romans and their overlords.

"You're in the UK now - protocol is everything." Lionsgate has revealed the action-packed official trailer for an international crime thriller titled One Ranger, the latest from action filmmaker Jesse V. Johnson. This one is set to open in May, yet another of these action dime-a-dozen films they're churning out left and right. The film follows a Texas Ranger as he is recruited by British Intelligence to track down a dangerous terrorist and stop him from attacking London. He must help them bring the outlaw to justice — dead or alive. The film stars John Malkovich as one of the Brits, with Thomas Jane as the Texas Ranger, plus Dominique Tipper, Dean Jagger, Jess Liaudin, Rachel Wilde, Nick Moran, and Patrick Bergin. Oh damn this looks totally nuts, in good ways & bad, especially with that mustache Thomas Jane has and his thick accent. // Continue Reading ›...

Not all comic-book movies have to be about superheroes or heroes at all for that matter. Case in point: Accident Man. Originally debuting in a series of comic strips in the 90s, Accident Man was created by Pat Mills and Tony Skinner – two legends of the UK comics scene. For those not familiar with the Mills and Skinner creation, Mike Fallon is a hitman, a stone-cold killer and the best at what he does. Yet he’s no ordinary hitman. Instead, Fallon has a very particular style of assassination: all of his jobs are completed by making it look like the target was killed simply by accident… Hence the name Accident Man.

"Just get rid of them both, whatever the cost." Another day, another bad Bruce Willis action movie. There's an official trailer available now for White Elephant, the latest from the mindless action filmmaker Jesse V. Johnson. When an assassination attempt goes wrong, an ex-marine-turned-mob enforcer is forced to set things right or face the wrath of his ruthless mob boss. If that sounds like nearly every other boring action film recently, it's because it is exactly that, and they're not doing much different besides just shaking the bottle each time. Bruce Willis & Michael Rooker star, along with Michael Rose, Olga Kurylenko, Vadhir Derbez, and John Malkovich. This looks so bland and awful, please don't waste any of your time on this. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Jesse V. Johnson's White Elephant, direct from YouTube: When an assassination attempt is witnessed by two cops, an ex-marine ...

"You said you can shoot - question is, can you really...?" Well Go USA has released an official trailer for an indie action movie called Hell Hath No Fury, the latest from the former stuntman / B-movie filmmaker Jesse V. Johnson. How's this for a concept? Branded a traitor by her own countrymen, French national Marie DuJardin is rescued by American soldiers on one condition: to survive, she must lead them to a cache of gold hunted by the Nazis, the French resistance, and the Americans alike. She must take on every single one of them if she wants to make it out alive from this situation. Nina Bergman stars as the badass heroine Marie, joined by Daniel Bernhardt, Timothy V. Murphy, Louis Mandylor, Dominiquie Vandenberg, Josef Cannon, and Charles Fathy. It looks packed with plenty of gritty WWII action, but is the script any good? Hard to tell. Here's the...

We imagine it’s never thrilling to be recognized for your past work. Yet when you have action movie talents like Scott Adkins and Louis Mandylor on hand, it makes absolute sense a certain type of fan will crop up—and likely need a likely beat down in some circumstances! That’s at least one humorous takeaway from a new exclusive clip of Payback: Debt Collectors 2, an action-thriller starring Scott Adkins and Louis Mandylor.
In the film, Adkins and Mandylor star as a pair of debt collecting heavies who are muscle for a particular type of bad men—all while avoiding another group entirely that wants them dead. And in the scene we have below, the men known as French and Sue are starting their morning by getting hassled for the fact Mandylor used to star in a direct-to-video martial arts movie named Ninja. Following our top 50 films of 2019, we’re sharing personal top 10 lists from our contributors. Check out the latest below and see our complete year-end coverage here.
2019 found me returning from a year in China and settling into a new life, job, and city here in America, totally recontextualizing and complicating my relationship to American cinema and culture. During this significant transition–but just like with any other before it–the movies were there for me. To comfort, to converse, and to confront. This year, I once again chose films for this list that stuck with me, that triggered deep and lasting emotional responses, and that provoked and confronted me. It’s the end of a year, but also the end of a decade. This all urges us toward reflection. Yes, reflection on self. But like, way more importantly, ranking all those movies you saw.

Stars: Scott Adkins, Craig Fairbrass, Thomas Turgoose, Nick Moran, Kierston Wareing, Leo Gregory, Beau Fowler, Louis Mandylor, Terence Maynard, Ross O’Hennessy, Daniel Adegboyega, Mark Strange, Greg Burridge | Written by Jesse V. Johnson, Stu Small | Directed by Jesse V. Johnson
Well sh*t… Scott Adkins just had to go and step it up a notch with this very Brutal, very British, hugely funny and fairly orginal Brit crime drama. Boasting a superb leading man performance from Adkins and a delightful supporting cast of top Brit talent.
So I saw the trailer, then I read the synopsis, I looked into the cast list and instanly thought ‘Well I know how this is going to go’. However I do love a lot of the cast involved in the flick and I am known to enjoy a good Brit crime thriller. Add to this Adkins has never failed to deliver when it comes to punch-y,...

Last week Scott Adkins took to the red carpet with his cast to premiere revenge thriller Avengement in London. We have interviews with Adkins and Turgoose from the carpet of the Stratford East Picturehouse where they talk about developing the new movie. They talk about strength of story and character development as well as impactful action, and why it’s important to make these films here in the UK.

If there is any doubt whether or not Scott Adkins' new film Avengement is what they call in the industry 'action packed' then may we present the following clip. The scene takes place in a prison and someone pissed in Adkins' cornflakes because he just starts wailing on the other inmates. There is no setup, just fists. And this is just 90 seconds of the whole movie! While released on furlough from prison, a lowly criminal evades his guards and returns to his old haunts to take revenge on the people that made him a cold-hearted killer. It’s an epic, bloody battle to search for the soul he lost years ago on the streets of an unforgiving city. Avengement will be releasing in U.S. cinemas,...

The trailer for Avengement, the hard hitting crime action flick, from Scott Adkins and Jesse V. Johnson, premiered today. In it, Adkins flashes a bright shiny grill and punches his way through the London underground. All of it by the looks of this trailer. It’s an epic, bloody battle to search for the soul he lost years ago on the streets of an unforgiving city. I was with a friend the other day who saw Avengement at a market screening. They think that this could be a breakout film for Adkins, one that...

"Come on in, don't be shy." Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted an official trailer for the indie action thriller Avengement, an intense new crime film made in the UK. This is the latest collaboration between Adkins and director Jesse V. Johnson, they also made Triple Threat together. Avengement is about a lowly criminal who is thrown in jail and made into a cold-hearted killer. While on furlough, he escapes his guards and goes for revenge on the people who set him up. The cast includes Craig Fairbrass, Thomas Turgoose, Nick Moran, Kierston Wareing, Leo Gregory, Beau Fowler, Louis Mandylor, and Terence Maynard. This looks like your standard revenge action flick mixed with prison brutality, without much more to offer. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Jesse V. Johnson's Avengement, direct from YouTube: While released on furlough from prison, a lowly criminal (Scott Adkins) evades his guards and returns...
