When Emily mentions that Cupid's Arrow was written by one of the Facebook engineers, this is a reference to the short film Compatibility (2017) written and directed by writer Jack Marchetti. The short film is about a Facebook engineer who creates an algorithm that predicts romantic compatibility. The feature film version of that script was a 2015 Nicholl Fellowship quarter finalist.
Elisabeth Harnois and Johnathon Togo played in separate CSI shows. Harnois played an actress in the original, while Togo played Ryan Wolfe in CSI: Miami.
Much of the movie was filmed during the summer in Lafayette, Louisiana. Actors and extras frequently had to take off their winter apparel when not rolling.
After Holly sets up her dating profile, she goes on three bad dates. The names of the three men are Brian, Anthony and Michael. These names are what the writer, Brian Marchetti, is known from. One is his first name, the next is his middle and the last is his confirmation name.
The last thing to be filmed was the 360 shot of Emily and Sean dancing. Filming was taking place in the back room of a restaurant. When there were not enough extras to fill up the room for this one shot, production asked restaurant patrons, up front, if they would be interested in standing in. Extras for the school scenes were also sparse that background actors were asked to walk through scenes and, once off camera, to change outfits and then pass through again.
