2024 was a busy year for Netflix Games, with over 40 new arrivals in total, although we have begun to see the first set of Netflix Games leave the service, headlined by Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City. “La Dolce Villa” debuted as Netflix’s most-watched movie of the week just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The Italy-set movie scored 19.8 million views from its Feb. 13 debut through Feb. 16, making it the No. 1 most-watched English movie during the week of Feb. 10. Viewership for “La Dolce Villa” outpaced “Kinda Pregnant,” which took the No. 2 spot with 13.7 million views, as well as “Aftermath,” which scored third place with 9.9 million views.

The “Shrek” franchise took three of the spots on the Top 10 movies list this week, with “Shrek” taking fourth place with 7 million views, “Shrek 2” coming in the No. 5 slot with 6.1 million views and “Shrek the Third” coming in at No. 10 with 3.6 million views. Last week’s Samba TV Weekly Wrap Report was all about thrills, as edge-of-your-seat action series dominated the Top 10. This week, as we creep ever closer to Valentine’s Day, comedy takes the lead in the form of “Kinda Pregnant.”

The movie stars Amy Schumer as a woman so jealous of her friends’ pregnancies that she resorts to wearing a fake baby bump. Hijinks follow, carried along by Schumer’s unique gifts for physical comedy.

“Kinda Pregnant” was a huge hit for Netflix, drawing 1.6 million households in its first five days. Younger millennial households were more likely to watch the film than other audiences, perhaps as this cohort begins building families (and experiencing similar jealousy) of their own.

While two of its most recent action-packed original series continued to thrive, the latest season of the fan-favorite romantic drama series returned from its two-year hiatus with less than stellar numbers.

In its first three days of release during the week of Feb. 3-Feb. 9, Sweet Magnolias season 4 (which premiered on Feb. 6) brought in 4 million views globally, which translates to 33.7 million hours viewed. The series ranked in fourth place for the week behind The Night Agent season 2, The Recruit season 2, and American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson.

But the No. 2 most-watched title overall was on the non-English-language movies chart: Korean Thriller “Bogotá: City of the Lost” debuted with 13 million views in its first six days on Netflix. “Lucca’s World” came behind it with 9.4 million views in its second week on the chart.

Through it all, the Townsend-Maddox family dealt with it together. This was also the first season the series explored more career options for Maddie.

Therefore, we were eager to chat with Joanna Garcia Swisher since she teased that this was her favorite season. As always, it was enjoyable talking to her as she talked about her love of Sweet Magnolias Season 4 and her pride in her TV children.

Cal is fine

Do I understand why Cal needed the dramatic fall that we saw, I really do not. I mean, the whole pattern this season has been ending on a cliffhanger, and I guess the writers need something for the story. Just like many of the other cliffhangers, this one is resolved quickly. Thankfully, Cal is fine physically. There's just a bit of bruising on his face and a hurt ankle. But nothing a little love and caring from Maddie won't heal.

I'd say emotionally though, Cal is still trying to figure out the whole stepdad thing.

Well, that episode of Fire Country was way more emotionally heartbreaking than anyone could have guessed. He might be an ornery, cantankerous, grumpy old man, but no one, not even Walter, should have to suffer losing their memories.

As most people realize, our experiences and memories are what make us who we are. They dictate how we feel and the choices we make.

Knowing where we came from helps us navigate where we’re going. Without our memories, we’re like an infant flying blind and needing guidance. It kind of makes sense why Fire Country would pair a Walter-centered episode with a surrendered baby.

At least the episode wasn’t just one sad situation after another. For example, I am making a note to remember that window-breaking trick that Walter used on the crashed car.

Following the hurricane, Sweet Magnolias season 4 episode 6 finds the people of Serenity begin rolling up their sleeves and getting to work in helping their neighbors impacted hardest by the storm. Of course, before we get to all that, we have to address the elephant in the room: Helen and Erik finally getting together!

After their passionate kiss in the rain, the pair spent the night together and are happier than ever, though their morning bliss is cut short as Helen is called in by Peggy and Erik is summoned to the restaurant by Cal. Speaking of Cal, Maddie is beginning to worry about him as he didn’t get any sleep at all and seems to be starting to feel the pressure, though he assures her he’s fine as he prepares to open Sullivan’s and Friends to anyone impacted by the storm in need of a meal.

Following his heated exchange with Bonnie at the end of the previous episode of Sweet Magnolias season 4, Ty has not yet come home so the guys all head out to try to find him. Cal ultimately finds him at the baseball field and the two share a really sweet conversation as Ty shares his regrets about not fixing things with Bill before it was too late.

Ty says he wants to be a man who takes on responsibilities like Cal, which really touches Cal who has been struggling to adjust to his new role as stepdad. The pair head home and Ty apologizes to Maddie for increasing her pain by going off on Bonnie. He tells them he’s not going to go on the road with Olivia as he should stick around and Maddie encourages him not to make a decision while everything is still fresh and emotions are high.

Sweet Magnolias Season 4 delivered a shocking twist involving Bill that sent shockwaves through the rest of Serenity's citizens. 

The new season of the Netflix drama involved many twists and turns, such as Annie and Ty finally becoming a couple, Maddie and Cal's unexpected wedding, and Helen's heartbreaking breakup with her new boyfriend, Alex.

When the Sweet Magnolias Season 4 synopsis teased death and heartbreak, a death this significant wasn’t even on my radar.

I made a lot of assumptions about the character and what it might mean for the story, but what we have here was a bold move by the writers that offered some of the season’s most emotional arcs.

It never dawned on me that Bill Townsend would take his last breath.

I assumed he would pop in at some point this season to visit the kids, but he wouldn’t be a significant part of the storylines.

Killing him off was a bold move and propelled some storylines forward. While I miss Chris Klein, it was needed.

Some people may disagree with me, but Bill hasn’t added much to the series in a long time.

This has been the best season of Will Trent, and each episode gets even better.

Spoilers for Will Trent Season 3 Episode 6 indicate that Will investigates a murder with a familiar pattern, forcing him to confront his past and that the killer stays a step ahead of them.

It also looks like the second case will be a serious one since Michael and Angie find a victim with her tongue missing, similar to John Shelley’s last victim 20 years ago.

We enjoyed how the series lightened the arcs up a bit, but they have gone darker again. Additional spoilers tease that Marion and Will become closer, and those scenes have the potential to be light and flirtatious.

Finally, Federico Rodriguez guest stars in this episode. He is not related to Ramon Rodriquez or Gina Rodriguez but will interact with both of them.
