Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton in Three Thousand Years of Longing (2022)

Trivia

Three Thousand Years of Longing

Edit
In historical myths, King Solomon had dominion over jinn with the help of a magical ring he received from God, which enables him to enslave demons. King Solomon can be seen wearing this ring when he casts the Genie into a bottle.
Cinematographer John Seale came out of retirement for the second time to shoot this movie. He'd previously done so in 2012 to shoot George Miller's previous film Mad Max: Fury Road (2015).
The film makes several references to the fictional Shahrazad Airlines. The name pays homage to the fabled storyteller Scheherazade from the "1001 Arabian Nights", who told her king a fanciful story each night.
The Queen of Sheba's leg hair is historically famous. Mentions of her leg hair appear in Jewish and Islamic tradition and texts about her. Generally, the story goes that the Queen of Sheba mistook the polished glass floor of King Solomon's palace for water, and hitched up her skirts to wade across it, revealing her hairy legs. King Solomon noticed the leg hair and rebuked her as unfeminine. "Whereupon he noticed the hair on her leg, to which King Solomon responded by saying: 'Your beauty is the beauty of women, but your hair is the hair of men. Now hair is beautiful for a man but shameful for a woman.'" -The Targum Sheni to Esther, c. 7th Century.
The name "Alithea" is ancient Greek for "truthful", which comes from Aletheia, the Greek goddess of truth.
