One of the main characters, Bai Intan is converted to Catholicism. She was then renamed to Clara. Interestingly, one of the first saints introduced by the Spanish colonizers to early "Filipinos" was Sta. Clara. As a superstitious belief, Filipinos usually offer eggs to Sta. Clara (her name meaning "clear" in Spanish) to bring about good weather. In the film, Clara is fond of the rain.
