Allan is hilarious, Sam Daly and Alison Haislip are great in their roles, and it's a sweet story that doesn't take itself too seriously. In a world full of stressors, it's great to see movies like this coming out. Relax and have some fun with this movie!
I laughed the whole way thru. Colorful language made it even funnier. I like the writers humor. Hope there is another....
If you're looking for a lighthearted comedy with some genuinely laugh out loud moments, this movie's for you. Don't let the cute dog puppet fool you- this is definitely geared toward the adult crowd! This story's about friendship, being true to yourself and remembering what matters in life. We can all use a little laughter right now. Allan will deliver! The relationship between Allan and Matt (his owner, although Matt would probably not call himself Allan's owner- more like best friend!) is sweet and moving. You feel their strong friendship and really care where they're taking you. There's romance, there are laughs, and the acting is top notch. It's well done overall and especially for an independent feature with puppetry(!), I say kudos to the filmmakers. Sit back and enjoy Allan the Dog!
Ok so this isn't a high budget film, and there's no actors you'll recognize, but that's ok. This is a funny, touching film with a little something for everyone. Except for kids that is, do not let children watch this movie.
If you go into this not expecting a whole lot, you're likely going to leave happy. There's nothing too deep here, and nothing that we haven't seen before from Hollywood, but the execution is good and it's enjoyable throughout it's runtime.
I'm not too sure why this has a 3.6 when there are no reviews before mine. Something seems to be wrong with the ratings system. In any case I rate this a decent 7/10

In first few minutes you know it's going to be painful watch. Real animals were replaced with hand operated puppet.
You can see a puppet show for 10-15 mins but making 90mins movie is torture.
It's like a puppet show minus entertainment.
Acting wasn't fine from human being but puppets sucks.

- TriviaThe portrait of Matt and Allan is the cover art from the movie Step Brothers with their heads photoshopped over Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.
- GoofsWhen Allan is interviewing Ellie and you see a glimpse of his "Protect Against Walker Service (PAWS)" suggested interview questions, item #2 says: If answer is "No," continue to question #2. This could represent a typo on the form leading to an infinite loop OR this could be interpreted that question #2 should be repeated indefinitely until the interviewee admits to being a sociopath. But, if it's not a typo, then there would be no reason to have additional questions beyond #2.
