Claire Coffee & Russell Hornsby worked together previously on NBC dark fantasy series Grimm (2011).

Based on a series of novels by Jeffery Deaver, the first of which was "The Bone Collector."

Phillip Noyce, who had directed the movie version of The Bone Collector (1999), was briefly consulted on the project, and had declined an offer to direct the pilot episode.

This is the second television series Russell Hornsby has starred in with "Lincoln" in the title. Hornsby previously starred as Eddie Sutton in ABC Family's Lincoln Heights (2006) from 2007-2009.
