Awkwardly Hilarious!
Molly Shannon is a perfect fit in this comedy; Vanessa Bayer is her usual goofy self. Jenifer Lewis's character is basically the Miranda Priestly of TV sales. If you've watched home shopping channels, this feels oh-so-real and a parody of a lot of the current band of shopping hosts out there. It's even set in Pennsylvania just like a certain channel that shall remain nameless. I enjoy the feel and sharp quick wit of the writing, so it travels at my speed of humor. I recommend giving it a try!
Way better than I expected.
Just watch the first episode and you'll be engaged with most characters and enjoy. I expected corny humor. But it's only a little corny. It otherwise has that wonderful mix of humor , melancholy and romance. Very enjoyable.
Loved it so much that I created an imdb account just to review.
This show rules. Vanessa Bayer and Molly Shannon have the cutest chemistry, every supporting actor is perfect in their role, the whole theme of the show is purposeful cringe but the writers don't overdo it and the actors take it just exactly far enough. It's so good.
The costume designers nail everyone's look too. So gaudy but again not overdone, just accurate.
You have to appreciate the satire they're going for, and probably won't appreciate it if you don't. They're mocking the super uncomfortable vapidness of this d-list celebrity subculture, but they're pretty grounded with it so it's not painfully obvious and wacky mockery.
And despite mocking these kinds of people, they still portray them as sweet, hurt, complex, vulnerable and striving - they're awful but so likable.
Definitely not for everyone but if you understand/love/hate everything about why home shopping networks are kind of fascinating - you'll probably love this.

I mean, let's not go crazy here with the 10s but it's solid
And though I consume a ton of content and have eclectic tares - these days I find that these comedies, especially the ones on premium networks (although, again let's not go crazy here cause showtime has really been slippin lately) - are rare treats that I really look forward to - Anyhoo, check it out, it's more than likely worth a half hour if your on the prowl for the ol slap and tickle of the mind.
Perfectly fun
Anyone watching this series shouldn't be expecting ground breaking comedy! This series is just for lighthearted fun and entertainment. I jumped on this show because Molly Shannon is one of the main characters and each show has been a fun 30 minutes. Vanessa Bayer, Jenifer Lewis, Paul James and all the other cast members work flawlessly as a group.
You can't go wrong watching this topial comedy of average people seeking fame on TV no matter what the path brings into their life. And the message made very clear - the material world can't bring happiness! As Darcy discovers.
