The dramatic irony is strong in this one

Most of the characters really have no clue as to what's to come. It's incredibly frustrating, but in the best way possible. The episode makes you root for the heroes even though you know they are going to lose, and the suspense that builds from that is just delicious.

The animation in this season as a whole has never failed to amaze me, but this episode was on a whole another level. The cinematography is simply fantastic and that duel had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It's sad to think that there are only two episodes left, but at least the show will go out on a high (albeit undoubtedly tragic) note. I can't wait.

    Speechless.

This will go down in Star Wars history. What unbelievable story telling we have gotten in these last two episodes. I am in awe of the masterpiece presented to us in this episode. The animation, editing, music, choreographing, and story are all master class and utterly jaw dropping. I'm feel that this is some of the best Star Wars content of all time. I felt everything in this episode and it is without a doubt this best episode in The Clone Wars and I think everyone will agree that Dave Filoni is such a tremendous talent and you can tell he LOVES Star Wars and also the fans. I can't wait to tell people in the future what I felt watching this on my first viewing so they see what good Star Wars is. Please if you read this and haven't watched Clone Wars or season 7 take this review and the hundreds of other reviews of people who think the same as me as a big old recommendation to start or pick back up this work of art. 100/10!

    Another instant classic episode

Once again, we get a look into the world of Maul (voiced by the supurb Sam Witwer) as is revealed how much he knows about the plan of Darth Sidious and, in a "surprise" twist, offers Ahsoka an oppertunity with him in hopes of surviving the events that are about to take place. The duel, which takes up about half of the episode, looks gorgeous, as well as the battle of Mandalore. A perfect follow up for the episode of last week, I cannot wait to see what happens in the two remaining episodes!

The stress of what's to come...

Clone Wars continues to give me so many gasp worthy moments as they foreshadow the eventual turning of the clones in Order 66. This was the most I'd gone "Oh my God!" at an episode so far. So many things weaved in to add to the stress of knowing what's going to happen. I'm beyond excited (and afraid) for how things will pan out in the next 2 episodes.

This is Star Wars climax we want

Just when I thought the previous episode was at a god tier level here comes this absolute gem of a episode visually perfect, amazing soundtrack and the story pacing is excellent hands down best clone wars episode most likely of all time and if the next 2 episodes top this I'm blown away 10/10

Original Maul actor, Ray Park, provides the motion capture for Maul during the lightsaber fight between Maul and Ahsoka.
    • Goofs
When confronting Maul and his Mandalorians, Ahsoka is able to tap a button on her bracer to signal Rex for help. At the end of Old Friends Not Forgotten (2020), the tunnels were blocking any signal from getting to Ahsoka, preventing Bo Katan from warning her of Maul's trap.
    • Quotes

Maul: [Looks at the battlefield in the throne room on Mandalore] Look at them, so blissfully ignorant.

Ahsoka Tano: Care to tell me what this is all about? Or would you rather save it for the Council?

Maul: Oh, no. No. You are the one that I wished to speak with.

[turns around and walks to the throne]

Maul: Were you not cast out of your Order?

      Ahsoka Tano: I left voluntarily.

Maul: Yes, but you were motivated to leave by the hypocrisy of the Jedi Council.

      Ahsoka Tano: [Looks concerned]

Maul: We were both tools for greater powers.

Ahsoka Tano: I'm here to bring you to justice.

Maul: Justice is merely the construct of the current power base. A base which, according to my calculations, is about to change.

Ahsoka Tano: And Darth Sidious is behind it?

Maul: He is behind everything. In the shadows, always. But soon, very soon, he will reveal himself.

Ahsoka Tano: With your help, the Jedi can stop Sidious before it's too late!

Maul: Too late for what? The Republic to fall? It already has! And you just can't see it! There's no justice! No law! No Order! Except for the one that will replace it!

      Ahsoka Tano: [Looks confused]

Maul: The time of the Jedi has passed! They cannot defeat Sidious!

      [pauses]

Maul: But together, you and I can.

      Ahsoka Tano: [Looks unsettled]

Maul: Every choice you have made... has led you to this moment.

[lends out his hand to Ahsoka to join him]
