This Limited TV series is bizarre to say the least. I could sit here and describe it for you but the description would make it sound interesting because it's so it Bazar. The truth of the matter is that this show was so unbelievably dry that I fell asleep in episode 2 and just never picked it up again because of the fact that they are so scattered with the fact that they are so over-the-top trying to be every single horror movie trope that they lose sight of making a good show!
First off this is extremely low budget not to say that I haven't seen a lot of really good low budget movies and TV shows before it's all in the writing and if you get actors that can pull it off! This show didn't have either except for the one actor who played the forensic pathologist, he was over acting by quite a bit but at least he was interesting. Second, as I said earlier they were trying to be every single movie Trope out there, you have the handsome forensic pathologist who plugs something into his head and can see the last few minutes of life for the person he's doing the autopsy of, however it's like a drug to him, he says it sends off your endorphins and you get a rush so obviously he's getting high on it and when he comes down, you see him injecting himself with something and also drinking a glass of wine so right there you've got the spooky forensic pathologist who is an addict. Then you've got the holy man who's basically like that Shaman that the police call in to wake up the Dead, he can make them answer a question they literally open their eyes and can say like three sentences. But his thing is he's a sexaholic to the point of being a sadomasochist and he gets off on being tied up in holy places, so it's very sacrilegious as well as sadomasochistic! You've got the boy girl cop, she hasn't decided if she wants to be a boy or a girl, she's a cock tease flirting with all of the guys in the precinct even the ones who are married, which is inappropriate in a workplace, but she's one of those women who thinks they have a right to do that and get away with it but the minute a guy flirts with her she is throwing up red flags and screaming sexual harassment, but for all of her flirting and acting female sexual, she doesn't wear any makeup and she's got her hair cut off like a boy so she presents herself like a man as if she doesn't want any sexual attention from Men. Obviously a very confused girl. Then you have the chief of police typical Chief of Police big guy who you know hasn't been inside of uniform for at least a decade, carries around a pipe usually a character like this has either a pipe, a cigar, or a cigarette, he always belittles his men by joking with them, condescending to them, telling them that they're wrong even when it turns out that they were right, which usually costs precious time and or someone's life. Then you've got 2 typical Squad cops that are buddies who have been around for a little while who know the ropes, typically have vices like drinking, smoking, or gambling, like to pick on the new guy on the squad because they're constantly getting picked on by the chief, and basically they're just filler in the story line. And then you've got the Newbie. Usually the storyline revolves around him. In the first two episodes that I actually sort of watched, this ring true as it usually does. And this newbie follows the same cookie cutter, fresh young kid hasn't been around for very long, gets picked on by the guys that have been around and gets treated very bad by the chief even though he has great ideas the Chief won't listen to him. Worst of all is that the person who was murdered happens to be his fiance. The dumbest thing I've ever seen though is that here they are investigating his fiance's murder, not only did they allow him to be on the case, but they allow him to go to the autopsy, they allow him to touch the body all over even picking up her hands and whatnot without gloves! All this before the forensic pathologist even has a chance to look at her, so now all his DNA is all over her! Obviously the screenwriters didn't do their research, and all they would have to do is watch any other procedural like NCIS or CSI, they don't even have to do their research LMAO! It's simple common-sense!
This show is supposed to be taken serious as a supernatural horror, police procedural set in Hong Kong, but quite honestly, for parts of it I couldn't quit laughing at it, but for most of it, it was just so dry and boring that I passed out & I fell asleep! Do not waste your time on this stupid, ridiculous show! I hope I gave you an adequate explanation so that you can see yes, there are these Supernatural tropes but that doesn't make it a good show!
