Diary of an Uber Driver

Firstly I want to say Im very disappointed there is only 6 episodes. Its light, easy to watch, laugh out loud funny and takes a wonderful look into other peoples lives.

Its not a hard hitting drama or a hollywood comedy but I think its intended that way. Sometimes you just want something to giggle at while relaxing at the end of the day and this is it!!!

The acting was great as most Aussie shows are and the stories believable and shocking at the same time.

I hope they make more episodes, its my STAN show of choice.

This follows the daily life of an Uber Driver (guess that was no surprise hey ! ) but the main character is so terribly nice and kind and I felt totally drawn to him. Very well done - humorous and human at the same time. Highly recommended.

Diary of an Uber Driver tries to offer a glimpse into the gig economy through the lens of rideshare encounters, but ultimately delivers little more than a disjointed collection of clichéd dribble. What should have been a raw, insightful portrayal of modern urban life ends up feeling like a shallow attempt try's to capitalise on the novelty of ride-hailing culture.

The writing is passive and unmemorable, just like the acting. The main character is more an observer than a participant, making it difficult to connect emotionally. The passengers - presumably the heart of the story - often feel like caricatures rather than real people, reducing potentially powerful narratives into fleeting, forgettable anecdotes.

While the premise promises a blend of humor, heart, and social commentary, the execution falls flat. There's little narrative momentum, and attempts at emotional depth are undermined by inconsistent tone and underdeveloped character arcs. It's unclear whether the show wants to be a quirky comedy, a dramatic exploration of modern isolation, or a social critique - and in trying to be all of them, it succeeds at none.

In the end, Diary of an Uber Driver offers a few mildly amusing moments, but not enough substance to justify the ride. Giving this crud 2 stars is being generous.

I drove Uber for four years and completed 14,132 trips and my star rating was 4.94 when I stopped driving in March 2020.

When this series was announce, I was so excited, thinking, if they stories are even half as funny and interesting as what has happened to me, this series will be amazing.

This is fertile ground for comedy and observation. You meet all sorts of people, and people are LAWAYS funny. They are funny when they don't mean to be. When they are trying to have a serious conversation with you about politics or what they do for a living. No one knows what they really do for a living.

This series had non of that though. It felt more like a writer's imagination of what Uber driving must be like. It is nothing like portrayed in this series.

There is no suspense, no comedy, no hard-hitting reality, nothing. This is a very unremarkable production. I laboured through a few episodes, only watched two or three.

They took a writer's potential gold mine and turned it into a barren filed of nothingness. Give it a miss, you wont be missing anything.
