Ricardo Antonio Chavira, who plays Selena's dad Abraham, played on Desperate Housewives. Lupe Ontiveros, who played his mother on Desperate Housewives, also played Yolanda Saldívar in the Selena movie.
The composers included elements of the theme from Brokeback Mountain by Gustavo Santaolalla in a lot of their original scoring in the latter half of Season Two, perhaps to signal a tragic ending.
