I watched the movie with my cousins at the midnight , truly speaking, we laughed so loud that we woke up almost all the family members. It wasn't the end, it happened again and again :3
This movie is a perfect mixture of Comedy, Crime, and Action. The storyline was prettyy good, cant compliant. The artists did a fabulous job. I loved the ending action scene most, though I really can't call it action scene as it was the funnest moments of the entire movie.
This movie has plenty of twists and turns...and does not disappoint.
I suspected a lot of things halfway through because I've come to expect it of these types of movies but I still enjoyed it.
What's more interesting is the actors that I keep seeing pop up in varying roles. For instance I'd just seen one of the actors as a very chillingly convincing serial killer and another as a contract killer/cop and both were very different in this film. Love the variety!
Overall this movie has a good mix of comedy, mystery, drama and suspense.
Extreme Job is an entertaining action-comedy movie that has received massive critical acclaim in its home country and certainly deserves international recognition as well. The movie focuses on a team of detectives who have been running out of luck recently and who are trying to redeem themselves by arresting the members of an infamous drug ring. In order to do so, they pose as owners and employees of a run-down chicken restaurant located right across the street of the drug gang's hideout. Things get complicated when internal pressure on them increases on a daily base, when they unexpectedly get involved into drug trafficking themselves and when their revamped restaurant rises to fame and keeps them busy.
This movie convinces on numerous levels. First of all, the quirky story comes around with all kinds of surprises without losing focus and telling the viewers how events unfold naturally. Secondly, the characters are quite different, sympathetic and unique which makes the viewers care about their fates, reputations and ties. Thirdly, the movie convinces with lots of situation comedy which is balanced with some grittier action scenes in form of martial arts combats, car chases and shootings. Imagine a more profound and refreshingly revamped take on Hong Kong action cinema of the late eighties and early nineties and you know what to expect.
In the end, Extreme Job is one of the best movies of its kind in recent memory. The acting performances are great, the action scenes are gripping, the characters are intriguing, the story is dynamic and quirky and some tension is added to balance the more vivid elements quite efficiently. If you like this movie, you should check out similar South Korean action-comedy films such as the slightly superior Quick or the surrealistic Save the Green Planet!.

Extreme Job revolves around an interesting premise: a bunch of cartoonish narcs goes undercover at a fried chicken restaurant to stake out a drug syndicate. The plot, which is very similar to Lobster Cop (Chinese, 2018), is rich in comedic potential. Does the film deliver on that front? Certainly. What about the buddy-cop-actioner bits? To an extent. Yet, it doesn't fully squeeze the juice out of the fruit.
For Captain Ko (and his team), nabbing the drug lord is his last chance at redeeming his career. The writing attributes some key traits to each member of the team which makes the scenes at the restaurant extremely hilarious. The fried chicken joint that the cops temporarily take over becomes an overnight sensation. But the gags are replaced with generic action set-pieces in the last half hour.
Bae Se-young's wacky writing (delivers one gag after another in quick succession) in the first few acts, complemented ably the quirky ensemble, is what makes Extreme Job rise above your usual buddy cop flick. It's feel-good movie-making at its best, and director Lee Byeong-heon puts his resources to effective use.
If the action-movie cliches in the final 30 minutes were avoided and instead, overwritten with the same kind of inventiveness that shone brightly in the film's initial portions, Extreme Job would have gotten an extra half-star. No surprises in guessing that it'll be picked up by a Hollywood studio for a remake!

This is a light-hearted action/comedy movie, with emphasis on "Comedy".
It doesn't take itself serious, it's funny, entertaing and pretty enjoyable.
Don't read anything about the plot, some reviews here reveal almost everything. It's an old fashioned action/comedy, some scenes remind me Bud Spencer/Terence Hill movies. A movie suitable for the whole family.
Recommended for everyone.

It is comedy but also packed in action. If you're not person that so into Korean movies, you might experience effort to adapt with Korean accent and gesture. But after 15 minutes you would get there for no doubt. Thumbs up for all actors and director.
Somehow it touched me by one scene when original sound track from legendary A Better Tomorrow was in it. I laughed alone since I guess none of other spectators in theater aware of it.
Again, everyone is perfectly in the right place to produce this movie.

Extreme Job is a refreshing breather from reality and emotionally heavy content dominating the industry.
Genuinely funny and entertaining- although utterly ridiuclous, the humour is well-executed with a charming ensemble cast. The characters, the direction, the climax, and the conflict come together flawlessly creating this unique film.

My review isn't technical, it's emotional. This very funny and well paced movie make me cry from laughing. A parody around police asian movies well done.

There are too many "fan" ratings here - it is not "as funny" as people are making it out to be. My wife fell asleep halfway through. But not too bad either

I cried from laughing in this film. It is predictable and plain in writing in some ways but it is a movie that you can watch and enjoy and laugh. 10/10.

Started off very strong through a series of slapstick scenes, but quickly loses steam as the story went on. A group of very likable cops with a great concept sounds like a combination that can do no wrong, but quite quickly you realize the film lacks memorable scenes and twists in the plot. The Chinese version of the film is stronger in both its cinematography and story that you feel the Korean version exists just to be there, but doesn't offer anything substantial. The bad guys are painfully one-dimensional and lacks personality. There are no doubt comedic moments sprinkled throughout, but there is not enough meat for the film to be remembered.

It's a delightful premise: cops take over a fried chicken joint to run surveillance on a drug gang and end up becoming such a huge success they have no time left for their policework. There's lots of funny moments and quirky twists throughout, though it runs out of steam halfway through and there are too many ideas either suddenly introduced or left unexplored that don't make sense or go anywhere.
It also feels a good half hour too long, and the subtitles are noticeably very poor: a lot is clearly lost in translation, weakening all dialogue-based humour for any non-Korean speaker. None of the characters behave consistently or believably, and events play out in a very cartoonish way that makes it hard to invest in or care about any of what happens.
As I've said, there's a lot of fun moments, especially earlier in the proceedings, but it's actually one of the few Korean films I've seen that I can imagine a tighter Hollywood remake (potentially) improving on.

The movie is not your usual Korean comedy. The characters are completely offbeat and their venture is outrageous. There are many moments where you suspect why some characters have some abilities, which are clarified later. The journey of the protagonists takes you along from a normal job to an exciting and hilarious ride
The actors have done a tremendous job in living up to their roles. This was needed for such a movie to work, especially as many characters are almost cartoonish reminding you of a manga/anime (manhwa/mangwa if you are a fanatic). The main advantage for this movie is that the characters are flawed and well designed to work with each other for an entertaining comedy film...
Do not mind the reviews, especially if you want to laugh like you never had in your life during the pandemic. The action scenes are few and yet do not annoy you. The main drawback is the overdone melodrama and the unacceptable super-heroic powers in the climax. Still, by the time you reach the end, you are laughing anyway and do not mind this seriously enough to hate this great watch.

Was not interested in or ever intented to watch this one maybe it's because I don't know any of them in the cast, until some friend recommended so I watched it with doubt xD and it actually pretty good! Very funny, nice tempo, and good jokes! Enjoy watching this a lot for the whole time. I highly recommend this as well ;D Murphy's law:' anything that can go wrong will go wrong, and at the worst possible time.' Let's do something big together but what if it goes wrong? It usually goes wrong but maybe in a good way, or there will be a good twist inside of the wrong. I guess this makes the movie so fun to watch.
This buddy cop movies is not just awesome at comedy, but best at fight scene too. Trust me, it will not disappoint you.

I watched it twice and surely would watch it again.
Characters are very Manga like and so fun to watch them do anything.
I just hope the dialogues are well translated to be able to pass the comedy to international audience. I suppose that's pretty challenging.
Good Korean movie to enjoy with all audience.
And I hope you have fried chicken on your table while watching this.

Maybe I was expecting too much from Extreme Job, due to the hype it created. However, I wasn't impressed. That said, Extreme Job isn't a bad movie. The team of actors that concist the police force was great, with chemistry as well as excellent performances. The plot was interesting at first, with the chicken restaurant and its success, but didn't stray away from the classic police comedy movies. The jokes, however, were good; at least, most of them were. Finally, I enjoyed the conclusion of the movie, with the action scenes being top notch.

"A raucous cop comedy, EXTREME JOB rib-ticklingly introduces us a seemingly inept narcotic squad, led by Captain Ko (Ryu), who is stuck in the same rank for two long without much distinction in the track record, with loyal subordinates Ma (Jin), Young-ho (Lee Dong-hwi), Jang (Lee Hanee), the only female member and a tenderfoot Jae-hoon (Gong). In the opening action, the quintet bungles the apprehension of a drug dealer, much due to the consideration of economical reason than their expertise (they rappel down the building but don't want to break the window glass, as the team's budget is piddling and been squandered by the gamble habit of Ma), and after coming in for reprimand from their superior and the teasing from a high-flying fellow squad, they rally and stake out in a local chicken restaurant in front of the lair of drug kingpin Moo-bae (Shin)."

This was something like a Jackie Chan cop movie without as much martial arts. This movie also happens to be the highest grossing movie and the 2nd most watched movie in Korean cinema history domestically. The acting in this movie was phenomenal. Ryu Seung-ryong (the dude from Kingdom, Miracle in Cell No.7) has some amazing range. The other actors in the gang were great too. The movie was funny in ways that you'd expect a cop movie to be and the humor wasn't over the top. There's some legit action in the end as well. The characters were quirky and convincing enough. There's nothing super profound in this movie, it's one of those that you put on and sit with a bucket of popcorn and watch for some entertainment.
