"A Winter Princess" was filmed at the Big White Ski Resort and other parts of Kelowna. Big White Ski Resort is located 35 miles southeast of Kelowna in the southern interior of British Columbia.

Carly's surname is Furstin which is a German word (Fürstin) for a a female monarch.
Carly is a princess from the fictional small landlocked country in Europe called Landora. There is indeed a landlocked citystate in Western Europe called Andorra, on which this fictional country might be inspired. However, Andorra is in the Pyrenees, not the Alps as mentioned. Another tiny country, Liechtenstein, is. Landora is likely intended to be a combination of both.
