This is a historical and war film about the Mongol Empire, the world's most powerful empire, colonizing Russia. When the world's strongest army, the Mongol Empire's forces, invaded Europe, the King of Russia (Kievan Rus), Danilo Romanovich, fiercely resisted the Mongol invasion until the end. However, he suffered a crushing defeat and ultimately surrendered. As a result, Russia became one of the many colonies under the Mongol Empire's colonial rule across the world. Although Eastern Europe ultimately fell as a colony of the Mongol Empire, Danilo Romanovich remains a national hero of Russia to this day for his relentless resistance in the fight for Russia's liberation.
