    YES, the show is very loosely based on Scotty Bowers book. However the main characters and story lines are fictional. I do believe that Dylan is playing a pimp character and there will be gay hookers.



    Although they remained a speciality until the early 50s, flltered cigarettes were in fact patented in 1925 and regularly manufactured in Britain from 1935. It is reasonable to assume that Hollywood , especially given that many of the stars were British themselves, would have been in on the latest thing.



    There actually is a lot of smoking going on.



    This was released as a miniseries, which means that they didn't plan on continuing after this run.
